Default I'm Done

Finally finished up and received my CMP .22 Distinguished badge. It took me longer than I thought, but a broken leg slowed up my match attendance. I could have used a couple of other pistols, but I wanted to do it with my old M41 7". Still a great pistol.

Congratulations to you, very cool.

Glad to see you did it with your “old” 41. So very nice.

Good job. I'm still working on mine as my collection of achievement pins will attest.

Just over a year before I was fit enough to handle shooting standing again for any length of time.

Good shooting.
Do the "Trainer" grips really make it feel like a 1911?

Not really, but it's better than the stock ones. The Herrett's let me put my hand where I want, instead of where the grip wants.

Congratulations!

That is a significant achievement and puts you up in the stratosphere of marksmen.

I had no idea that there was a .22 Distinguished Badge. Pretty cool.

For CMP 22 Excellence In Competition the Timed Fire and Raid Fire 5 shot strings require a lift like in International 25 meter pistol events for the first shot of the string instead of being able to hold on the side of the turning target frame like in traditional NRA Precision Pistol (Bullseye). The line starts with all pistols at a low ready and lifts when the targets turn. Luckily the time the targets are facing the line is 20 seconds and 10 seconds so shooters have some cushion for firing all five shots of each string.

A video on the lift: Sport Explainer - 25m Pistol and Rapid Fire Pistol

Interesting. That looks a lot like how they shoot pistol competition in Europe although the targets were different when I was there.

I had a hard leg towards my service pistol Distinguished while shooting for the Army, but 911 happened and we got too busy with deployments to pursue it any further. I did go Distinguished Expert on the PD's pistol team in police competition.
