Default 745 Firing Pin Removal

I picked up one that I do not know the service history of. I did the basic field strip and clean and it was dirty. I have seen videos showing how to remove from gen 3, 645's (?). Those have safeties on both sides of the frame. Mine is only on the left side. Do I have to remove the safety to take it out? I also see no firing pin safety to depress to pop out the firing pin.

Thanks!

Yes, it has to be removed. Just "act" like you already removed the lever from the right side & proceeed like you have in the past.

Since the SAO models don't have a firing pin safety it's just one less thing to mess with to remove the FP. It'll pop right out.

Thanks for the comments. So I just have to remove the safety by removing the roll pin and the FP will just come out? Forgot about it being SA and not requiring a firing pin safety.

First depress the firing pin so that it clears the manual safety assembly. I use a small punch to do this. With the firing pin depressed, push out the safety, right to left. Be aware of the plunger and spring that will launch once the safety handle clears the slide... After the safety clears the firing pin, just pull it out. Might need to rotate the safety a bit to find the path of least resistance for complete removal. Once the safety clears the firing pin be aware that the firing pin and spring will want to launch too...

Thanks for the info. I presume it will be easy to re-install the plunger & spring just in the reverse order being careful not to loose the plunger & spring.
