Default Polished flats

Howdy,

Does anyone know of the technic or process that S&W used to get the polished flats ?

Is it a certain type of grit sand paper or scotch brite? I know they are not completely polished to a mirror finish.

They almost look like they have striations in them..

Thanks
Erik

The finish reminds me of what you can get with surface grinder; not something that can be replicated with a manual process (to my knowledge).
