Default Rock it like Crockett.

After an on again, off again two year Ebay search I finally landed a sweet, sweet Galco Miami Classic for my 4506. It took a while due to the early hooked trigger guard. It's far from new, but a little application of Picard's fixed it right up. Is this my new EDC? Hardly. Will I use it on occasion? I bet I will. Mostly, I bought it because it makes me smile.

In the 70’s I had what was then known asa Jacka** rig for my issued Model 59. They have a new version for a 1911 and I have a black one for a Kahr 9mm that is very discreet. I’ve worn it under a motorcycle vest or a light jacket completely concealed. Now you need to buy a linen blazer and baggy pants, although that isn’t the style in Kansas.

The earlier hooked trigger guard seemed to be a sticking point in finding one and had I just about given up. Then, a few days ago, I was waiting for the wife to do whatever it is wives do and did a quick ebay search to pass the time. Bingo! Works well with the 4566 too.

Years ago I used a Jacka** rig for a 1911 on a routine basis. I still have a current manufactured one for the Beretta 92. There are some niche applications a shoulder holster works well for.

As for the sartorial choices, some things are better left in the past.

Don’t forget the pastel pink or lavender shirt, but never mind the socks!

I've got two........

Ones set up for a Beretta either a Compact or Centurion.

the other is a single stack which will take my 4566 and two spare mags. It will also take a 3913 with a 5906 hammer.

I like them for winter hikes..... as the gun is easily accessible by unzipping the coat or jacket halfway

I have two that I have owned for many years. One is set up for a 1911 and the other for a K frame. I never use them any more. If you are doing anything the least bit strenuous you better have it tied down or it will beat you to death. We had a female officer once that wore one while horseback riding one day and it about killed her. Great rig for certain applications as stated by others.

I carry my 1911 in the Miami Classic II, which is the slightly updated version of the old Jacka** rig that Galco still sells as the Miami Classic. It's a great rig.

I found that very rig for a 1911 a couple of years ago in a thrift shop once, it was marked like $25.00 bucks or some stupid price like that. I sold it and turned around and bought my Rosen on the Colt forum.

He started with a Sig P220 in the Pilot, but went to a Bren Ten, IIRC. Even though it looks like a 1076, it is based, loosely, on a CZ75.

Here are some pics of Sonny and his Bren Ten. The gun he actually used was a 45 ACP because of the availability of blanks.

Dude, I can identify whomever I want with whatever I want, so step off with your negativity pal. After having actually spent time with a Bren Ten back in the day, the only thing I identify it with is a dumpster.

Seasons 1&2: Bren Ten
Seasons: 3&4 S&W 645
Season 5: S&W 4506

Didn't even take twenty posts for the trivia Nazi to show up.

I happen to have the correct era Galco holster and magazine pouch to go along with my S&W 645. I really got my Crockett on! By the way, it's also really heavy when loaded and concealment under a very light jacket just ain't gonna happen. Ahhhh, the magic of Hollywood.

I have the Galco Jack A rig I carry my P16-40 (10mm) in cold weather during hunting season. Hard to get a gun off your hip when you have a field jacket on, but easy from the shoulder rig. Been using it for close to 20 years.

In the last season Sonny indeed carried a 4506-1, why are you dumping so much hostility on this mans thread on something you don't even have all the facts to? Don't know any of the other forums you belong to, but we're not like that here. Maybe you should take a course in civility and then you report back!

Just curious, how by the OP picture can you say for sure that isn't a 10mm?

Unless I'm misunderstanding your question, the OP states that it's his 4506, so it's a .45 ACP.

Slight thread drift. I personally prefer the Galco Miami Classic II over the Galco Miami Classic aka the Jacka** rig. I like the horizontal mag holders as they're much easier to reach and hold the mags securely with the tension adjustment screw. The original rig with the vertical/upside down mag holders that have covers on them would make the mags much harder to access.

What’s worse is the early black Ferrari was a kit car, not a Ferrari.

Actually, Sonny's Bren Ten was a .45 only internally, because no one made 10mm blanks for cop shows back then. But .45acp blanks were available. So D&D gave Mann's prop team a 10mm BT (exterior appearance), but set it up internally with a .45 barrel, extractor, etc. and .45 mags.

On certain episodes of Seasons 1 & 2, where there's a close-up shot from the side during a gunfight scene, and Crockett is holding or lifting the gun up, you can actually see the 'Cal. 10mm AUTO' rollmark on the hard-chromed slide. You'll find a couple such scenes in the S-2 opener, 'Prodigal Son.'

The frames were stainless and the slides were blued steel, but they wanted the Bren to show up better on TV so the had the slide hard-chromed.
Yes, to show up better on camera during low-light or night scenes.

Everything that you have posted is absolutely correct. The Bren Tens were made in 45 Caliber also so it was no problem for them to make it.

They also made dual caliber guns with one frame and two slides, barrels and recoil parts. Here is a pick of two of the Dual Masters that I own.

Hush your mouth. Don't care that it was a kit car. It, and the Bren Ten, was what made those first two seasons of the show. I still am traumatized by what they did to that car.

I still have my Galco rig for my original 4506 with the hooked trigger. It works just fine with the round trigger -1 and the 1006.

I actually preferred the wannabe Daytona over the Testarossa.

The switch to the Testarossa was due to Ferrari complaining about the use of a kit car. As I understand it, the deal from Ferrari was that they would provide the Testarossa and the kit car fake Ferrari's were to be destroyed. The first Testarossa was black, but it was determined that a white Testarossa would look better in the night shots, much like the story with the Bren X pistol.

Ferrari also initially refused to supply a car for the show, so the faked up Daytona was used. Fairly quickly, Ferrari demanded their logo be removed from the cars used on screen. When the show became a hit Ferrari was more than willing to supply a car. I always thought the Testarossa was a ugly car.

I agree, the Testarossa was not a particularly nice looking sports car, especially compared to the smooth lines of the 308 and 348.

Now that I've got the classy leather, how about going further with a set of Pau Ferro Hogues?

BAM!
And so, there you have it; one of the "Top Ten" coolest guns ever and that list does not include the Bren 10.
