Default Victory Failure to Feed

Was shooting a Precision (bullseye) sectional match (NRA) this afternoon at the club. I had 3 failure to feed of the second round 3 times from 3 different mags. The round was cocked in the ejection port and loosened the bullet from the case also. All mags are S&W. I used Aquiila and Federal match ammo.

The gun was field stripped and cleaned and lubed after shooting last week. I have about 1000 rounds thru the Victory. Should the mag springs be replaced? Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

At my range, over the past 9 (?) months or so, three of my friends each bought S&W Victory .22's. All three had the same problems. All three had to go back to the mothership and IIRC one went back twice... I don't know about the other two, but they are both shooting Buckmarks and Rugers. I almost bought one, but hesitated just long enough. I have no idea with S&W did to repair their guns. I'm guessing S&W has it ironed-out by now... send her back.

I have had the gun going on 2 years and this problem just started. I will give CS a call next week to see what they have to say.

Please let us know how this turns out for you. Mine has been trouble free so far. That's strange how yours just started acting up all of a sudden.

Hope you get it figured out. My Victory has been a joy to shoot, eats all the types of ammo I have going on two years now.

I hate to send back to S&W at this time as our bullseye runs 4 more weeks. Then we go outdoors to shoot plates!!! But I will keep this post updated.

The Victory 22 is more likely to have issues than most models. The majority seem to have no problems at all, but if you get a "bad one", you may be sending it back more than once. in addition to cycling problems the "main screw" seems to work its way loose sometimes. If you have not done so, you can do a search and read the problems and solutions others have had. Unfortunately this is not rare as we would like.

There is an older thread here on bending the extractor It solved all my problems.
I don't have it saved.

I believe this is the thread with the solution on the ejector issue. See post #30 by njsarn. Worked for me.

SW22 Victory not ejecting

But I'm far from an expert. To me, they're all "jams" so when it happens to me I'm not sure if the real problem is a failure to extract, failure to eject, or failure to feed. The ones that don't go bang when I pull the trigger I pretty much have figured out....

Have you cleaned the inside of your magazines? This requires complete magazine disassembly.

Sounds like some good advice. Will do the magazine cleaning. I tweaked the extractor 6 months ago. Maybe need to do again. Also put a small drop of oil on the top round brass. One of the old timers said it works for him.

At last nites bulleye match, no failures!!!

Tried to call CS and was on hold for 15 minutes twice!!! Sig answers in less than a minute.

For clarification, the link I posted to another S&W forum thread was for tweaking the ejector, not the extractor.
