3913 Two Tone?
I came across a picture of a 3913 two tone. A black slide on alloy frame. Is this someone putting a 3914 slide on a 3913 frame or a factory two tone gun?

I believe you are correct. IIFC, the factory two-tone was a black frame with SS slide.

I don't recall ever seeing a 2 tone 3913 from the factory. They've all been 3913/14 parts set to one pistol. I could be wrong but I would assume not factory.

There was one, IIRC. But the one up on the auction board is not it.
Back in the mid 90s there was a "Performance Center Classic Series". Blue slide on a stainless colored aluminum frame, with "Classic Series" in gold script on the right side of the slide.
But I cannot remember if it was only a 3953 or a 3913 as well. And the slide was a 1/2 inch longer too. Hope this helps. Regards 18DAI

Maybe, maybe not. I bought a 3913 two-toned off of Gunbroker several years ago and posted pictures when I joined the forum. Members swore it was a homemade Frankengun because it is a 3914 slide on an alloy 3913NL/LS frame. Some also expressed condolences and said that was the reason I got it so cheaply and uncontested. I couldn't stand not knowing so I sent away for a factory letter which stated that it did leave the factory in that configuration in a small batch to Sports South of Shreveport, LA. He assumed it was a custom order, perhaps for a police department. He also expressed slight frustration with all the requests for the providence of non-collector's items, but I digress. The forum members were also slightly taken aback because it was dated as shipped out before the NL/LS frame was released commercially. One of the old sayings goes, "never say never with Smith & Wesson."

So, S&W were making Frankenguns before the fans started doing it. You just never know what you might find.

I never listened to much country music and that song was before my time, however I do know many of Cash's big songs. Had never heard that one until just a few months ago. Love it. Watched the video on y0utube.

Well, theres another two tone 3913 up on the big auction board this AM.
Black slide and slide stop on an early production frame with flash chromed hammer and trigger. And an optimistic opening bid, IMHO of course. Regards 18DAI

I don't know if they made them , but it sounds like a Zander Special . I have a 457 and a 908 Zander and that's what they look like > You might check the bible and see if Zander made any in the 3913 model .

Long live two tone semi-autos! I have loved the blue over silver look ever since it started becoming popular with the IPSC crowd and their ilk over 30 years ago. Of course I just recently got to “scratch my itch” with my own Franken-Smith built from a 639 receiver and a blued 915 slide assembly.
