Hello all, while stuck inside due to the coronavirus epidemic (even cancelled a range trip today, UGH!), I decided to go into the safe and make some gun porn. I assembled all of the metal-framed S&W autos I've accumulated over the years and realized I have examples of all three generations. The first ones I acquired were first generation, and I have gone from there. I have found quite a few over the last 5 or so years. BTW, no offense is intended to M&P owners. This thread is not an attempt to bash the current M&P series, but to appreciate the past and a great design that is no longer made. I happen to own an M&P in .45. They are an excellent platform too. I hope you enjoy looking especially if you are stuck inside:
FIRST GENERATION
Here's the one that started it all for me, a model 59 made in 1977 that I scored for $199 OTD about 6-7 years ago. Has box and spare mag.
Next, I picked up a model 39-2 in nickel. Made in 1975, it has blued hammer, trigger and controls. Has box and extra mag.
The rest of my collection I will present by generation and not in order of acquisition.
SECOND GENERATION
Model 469, the original "Mini" first year of production from 1983, no box but has extra mag:
Model 659, made 1987, has optional adjustable rear sight and ambi decocker/safety:
THIRD GENERATION
Model 6906, 1991, has box, with optional factory Trijicon Night Sights:
Model 5906, 1997, has ambi decocker
Model 910S, 2004, has original box & papers, came with stupid 10 round crime bill plugged magazine
Model 457, 45 ACP, 2007, only pistol in my collection not chambered in 9mm. No box, but as new. I have found that for some reason, calibers other than 9mm don't show up as much.
