Triple K Magazines
Ive been searching GunBroker for Smith 3913 magazines and see a lot of listening for the Triple K magazine products.
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with them and if they are any good?
any info is appreciated!

They make good stuff at a good price. Made in America I believe, should tell you all you need to know. Buy with confidence.

Every thing I've bought that had Triple K on it was junk. Thank God it hasn't been much.

Junk... Total junk.
Not worth the price of the shipping, let alone the cost of the magazines.

As far as I know Triple K are mostly made in Mexico, out of old beer cans. I have bought a few and have had to return them repeatedly to get one that actually worked. Their quality control is spotty, their materials are nowhere near as good as OE, and their heat treating is either shoddy or non-existent. Other than that they are fine.

Back when I was in the industry 40+ years ago, Triple K magazines were junk and the company had a terrible reputation. It's amazing that a company can continue to turn out such poor quality products and remain in business for as long as it has.
Best regards,

There's a reason you see mags by Triple K and ProMag in plentiful supply on dealer tables at Fun Shows. Happy to take your cash ... and who cares if they work or not.
Yes. Majorly avoid mags made by either company. They're junk.

I would avoid Triple K and ProMag magazines, although they may be pretty good when it comes to practicing clearing of magazine malfunctions.

I had a Star model PS in 45 acp with one factory magazine .
Triple K had them , so I purchased one . It wasn't quite as nice as the factory , slightly thinner metal , different follower but it did work .
It worked just as well as the factory magazine and in the long run working is more important than looks .
It was well worth the money paid and I would buy another .
A few years ago I got replacement magazines for an AMT Hardballer 45 acp from Mec-Gar ...most excellent quality... I would check with them and if they make them...that would be my first choice .

you may want to check out my post of a few days ago about questions I had for my Model 39-2, especially the replies about magazines. One poster listed which ones work and which ones don't as far as factory mag go, and I had listed my only good luck ( a WWII Luger) with Mecgar, bad luck with Pro-Mag for a Colt, and worse luck (read no luck at all) with Triple K on a 1986 Browning Buck Mark, 3 different purchases and returns and even though the mags were marked for the right model buckmark, they would not fully seat, would drop out without warning, would not feed at all. I gave up, wrote them a nasty gram, still have them in my junk pile.....don't have the nerve to sell them, but if someone has a challenger or more modern buckmark...they are yours for a PM.
For sure...………..try Ebay….I just won a Model 39-2 factory mag and it shipped fast, I got it 4 days earlier than stated, and best of all...it exactly matches my original and functions perfect. During my E-Bay search late last week, I saw bucoo 3913 mags, 8 rounders, 9 rounders, orange extensions, orange followers, black followers....in fact it seemed more of them were listed than older 39-2.

I have an old .25 pistol I inherited from Mom. At one time it was her purse gun. Brand is Victoria - from Spain I think. Candidly it's a piece of junk. Good thing she never had to use it. At any rate, Mom eventually quit carrying it. She hid the magazine "to be safe." She hid it well as we never found it. So I bought a Triple K magazine for it. It functions - sorta. Its quality aligns perfectly with the quality of the pistol.

I've had good luck getting Factory S&W Mags from Midway. If you're patient they seem to show up in 'waves' when S&W runs another batch.
The 3906 9-rounders work perfectly in 3913/14 as well. A couple years ago Squidsix posted a nice DIY fitting a Pachmayr Kahr mag sleeve to take up the extra space. Just need a little sanding on a flat surface to match the magwell angle. Works 100%

I recently purchased 3 Triple K mags for a Star BM...they were flawless, and I just received some for a Browning BDM; hope to give them all a tryout in the next few days.

Triple K may have upped their game in recent years .
My Star model PS mags , from 10 years ago worked fine and possibly the newest ones have improved...
It's not much harder to make a decent magazine than making just junk...possibly someone running the company thought so .
Sam.....Thanks for the update on their recent magazines , sounds promising .

The phrase "If you only pay peanuts, you should expect a few monkeys" should be their motto IMHO.
HK45 reported good results with Triple-K mags in a Colt 1903. I wish that I had had that experience. I foolishly bought some for a 1911 a few years ago. I still have them somewhere in a junk pile. -S2

I've owned some along the way and they are just OK at best. Most did work - some didn't and those I returned. Certainly not the best quality but for a Range Plinker & the price (NOT for SD or HD) they are usually adequate.

Following up-bad news...🤨
Made it to shoot yesterday. None of the mags For the Browning BDM worked; in fact, they prevented the pistol from functioning at all. The mags ALL kept the trigger from dropping the hammer.😬 The factory mag worked just fine.

I had a couple of Pro Mags that came with a 457. The gun came with five S&W magazines and two Pro Mags.
The Pro Mags wouldn't allow the gun to fire in DA, but they'd work fine in single action. It took me a bit to figure out that it was the magazines and not the pistol.
I guess they'd be good for failure drills, but I think I just ended up tossing them.

I know they do have a spotty reputation, but when I was looking for a magazine for a Sauer 38h, they were the only ones I found. Maybe I was just lucky, but the one I got has worked fine. It let me save wear and tear on the original mag. That said, if I was buying for anything halfway recent, I would stick with OEM or Mecgar.

The Triple K magazines that I have purchased in recent years.
These for my Colt 1903, and 1908 Hammerless guns. They work well, I have had no bad issues to report about them.

I needed a couple for my Stoeger 22LR Luger and Triple K were all I could find. I bought a couple of them, and the quality seemed on par with the factory original that came with the gun. So far they have worked just fine.
On the other hand I got a used one for my Bauer 25ACP and it works with some, but not all ammo. Seems like some brands are just a touch to long to load and feed reliably in the Triple K magazine. The factory mag seems to work with any brand of ammo - including the rounds that were jamming in the Triple K magazine.
So my experience has been hit and miss.

Hit or Miss... only buy old mags you cannot find anywhere else.
Triple K makes mags for old guns that are nearly impossible to find. I have a couple for a steel frame model 39 that work well, no problems. I also have a couple for the little browning 1910 in .380 that also work well. Have tried for the mini 14, AR15, 1911 and were all no good at all. Totally a hit or miss. I have also purchased one for a Colt 1902 military and haven't used it yet but it doesn't lock the slide back and doesn't even remotely look like the same follower. I would stay away from mags for the newer model guns out there but give it a shot on some of the out of production guns. Also definitely agree that ProMag's are lame. Magazines that work properly are worth every penny IMO but sometimes you gotta take a chance on the only thing you can find.
