Default CHP 4006 TSW Decocker Disassembly

Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for help with disassembling the decocker on my CHP 4006 TSW. I am familiar with "normal" safety/decocker and slide disassembly, but I know there is a spring attached to the decocker on this model. Has anyone disassembled this model before? If so, do you have any insights? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Comes out the same way, the detent pin that typically resides in the assembly is located in the slide, so no worries there

It just pushes straight out like normal, except that you don't have to worry about the manual safety body plunger and spring shooting out. Like Erocksmash mentioned, there is a spring-loaded ball detent inside of the channel for the safety body that mates up with an indent in the safety body itself.

You can install a regular safety body in these CHP's no problem, though with mine I did have to adjust the sear release lever to get the timing in spec. The ball detent does not interfere with it at all.

Default Disassembly Help

Great. Thanks guys I always take out the mag disconnect. I save the parts with the gun, but I really hate that thing. I haven't had time to open it up, but I didn't want to risk breaking a possibly irreplaceable spring. I will keep it stock except for the mag disconnect as I really like this safety type on this piece. I also really like the weight. On most guns I've fired, .40 is always snappier than 9mm or 45 ACP. The extra weight of this frame I think is a real advantage. I know most guys like a lighter gun, but generally I prefer heavier for how it shoots. I'm 54 now and grew up with steel, so plastic never really floats my boat. They function and shoot well, but the old school steel stuff is really where my heart is. Once again, thanks fellas. You guys rock. Gun guys are always my favorite guys to chat with because they are like minded and never hesitate to bail a brother out. I will post picks once I get it cleaned up and ready to go.

On the other hand, you will not be able to use the CHP spring-loaded decock body in any other model, since it does not have the channel milled into it for a regular M/S body plunger and spring.
I'm confused by your last paragraph, TG.

NONE of the "springer decockers" I have (small or large frame) have any accommodation for a plunger or spring.

Am I misunderstanding?

John?

Actually, I stand corrected John.

After looking in my parts bin, none of my spring-loaded decock assemblies have that hole milled into them. I think I was confusing the characteristics of the DAO safety body spacers and these spring-loaded decockers (neither of which I have any use for, as I'm a TDA/safety guy and always convert these).

Thank you for pointing this out to me John, now I can actually sell off my CHP decocker's if I want to.

Is there something different, under the rear sight on the CHP 4006TSW's?

Looking at a couple of them, and under the rear sight--rear of the dovetail
---there's something poking up from the slide, to the sight overhang.
Looks like it's closer to the right/starboard side of the slide.

I can slip a piece of paper into the gap, and it doesn't move. Same
place on both guns.

I've knocked out rear sights on a 6906, 4013TSW and CS9, and none
had this "feature".

Ok, what you are looking at is a decocker safety spring and plunger. During testing, sometimes the 90 degree spring that bends into the slide breaks and the lever stays in the down position. So, the plunger sits in a notch on the decocker body that keeps the lever up, making the gun shoot able

I'm looking at the gap between top of slide, and the rear sight--
aft of the dovetail.

I'll try to get a pic today, may be tough to focus on the 1/16"
slit!

Thanks!

In driving off the rear sight--same process as other 3rd
Gens, drive-sight-to-right-to-remove, and (try to) catch
springs before they can launch; reinstall right to left?

I usually remove the safety assembly and firing pin before
going after the rear sight, too. Sounds like the decock-only
safety removal, is same as standard TDA guns...
