Hi, new member here!

I have a Model 41 ('80s model, I think) with a 5.5 inch slide, but the rear sight is missing its elevation screw, so it's not very useable in its current state.

I've been keeping an eye on Numrich for the past little while (pre-covid-19), but no luck with either the elevation screw, or complete rear sight assemblies.

Are there any other good sources for this part or a complete assembly that I should be keeping my eyes on, or am I out of luck?

I'm in Canada as well, which might make sourcing parts a bit more difficult.

If I can't find this part, I'd be open to mounting another dovetail-compatible rear sight, or perhaps a red dot of some sort -- anything that will make this slide useable

You could give S&W a call. The part number for the elevation screw in the 5.5" barrel is 06201. Attaching a photo of your rear sight here on the forum would also help, as there are some variations in design.

The sight you have above was also used on the Model 52 at one point. (same part number)

I have seen these sight assemblies on Ebay.

Looks like you also need a spring and detent ball / plunger

Looking at Smith & Wesson Model 52-2 Parts | Numrich Gun Parts , looks like I need parts 47, 52, and 48.

The plunger and detent are in stock, just can't find the darn screw

Try Brownells
I have parts on order for a 7” 41 right now
They had them in stock.

A good machinist could make that screw if you had the exact dimensions.
