You'll have to get a letter from S&W to get your exact date of manufacture.
According the "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson" all the auto-loading handguns (39, 41, 46, 52, 59, 422, 449, 459, 469, 539, 559, 639, 645, 659, 669 and 745) were grouped together in the same serial number range. This started in 1954 with number 1001 and ended in 1970 with number 11500. Then S&W added a letter to the serial number with A115001 being the first.
