Default New to me M52-2 Serial Number Help Please

I just acquired a M52-2 after lusting after one for a very long time. The wait was worth turning down accepting worn out models at outrageous prices. I purchased a pristine model with a hard chromed frame after much hesitation as I have never seen one. I know most will say it's a crime to chrome one but at the price I paid and the overall shape the gun is in I think I did extremely well. I would like to ask someone to look up the date of manufacture for me. The SN is A632xxx. I greatly appreciate any help with this. I have attached pictures of my newly acquired pistol.

SCSW 4th Ed. lists the range for 1979 to 1980 as A565001 to A655000, so likely 1980.

Nice gun. I wondered what a nickel finish 52 would look like. This is sorta half way there.

I'm sure you'll enjoy shooting it!

and the price you paid...? for chrome and rubber grips, on an otherwise
masterpiece. OK, how does it function and shoot. Man, that is hard to
look at. Who did that?

I think the Pachmayr grips definitely take away from the look but otherwise I find the two-tone look to be GORGEOUS! Looks like the “more refined” cousin to the Model 745.

However, I’ll also say that the market is the market, and though our feelings may want to steer the market, it typically doesn’t. What I’m saying is, the market doesn’t like altered guns, so the market would punish this one heavily.

Me? I would be tickled to own that pistol, I really love the look! But it’s market value would be stifled for sure.

I agree that to a purist the value would be hurt but I was more interested in a shooter. I paid half of what a pristine non altered model 52 was bringing on the gunauction site that I have been watching for years. I tend to like the looks of the black rubber grips. It functions perfectly and the accuracy is phenomenal. Thanks for all the comments, I know I will enjoy my purchase for years to come..

Nothing wrong with it. I like it. Just curious, how much was it?

He was asking $1100. I offered $800 and he accepted. I have bid on guns in like shape albeit not chromed and lost the bids for $1600+. Not sure where some of our other posters are see M52's for $1000. but I can only find even the ones in bad to reasonable shape start at $1200 and go up from there.

Question

My question is did you want an accurate .38 Wadgun, and did you get one?
Are the mag(s) original or modified? Finish and Pacs could mean LE competition gun.
Great price-let us know?

I have 2 52-2 (a shooter & a safe queen) And one each 52 & 52-1 & a Colt 1911 38 Wadcutter auto.

I'm a sucker for the blue slide-chrome lower look, carried one a long time as a cop, still have a couple of them.

Hey batman4706, how would you rate and compare the trigger pull, break and feel across the four 52’s that you have?

I’ve only owned 52-2’s. Have had three, down to two currently, but close friends have a few dash-2’s. In all the years of reading and opinions, majority rule MIGHT say that the 52-1 might have the finest trigger of the three variants.

What would you say?

I did want an accurate gun and as soon as I can get a red dot on it I'll know but from what and when I can see the iron sights it's definitely accurate beyond my capabilities. The mag is original and the gun appears to have been shot very little if at all.
