Default S&W 61-2????

Fella has a 61-2 for sale, blued, with the plastic "wood" grips; asking $300. It's kinda Kute and in good shape but not pristine.

I read a bit about them; have no earthly use for one; but it's cute and I got a lot of other Smith semis and I could consider it just to add to the "collection."

But then there are some other things I could do with $300.

Anyone have any experience with these? Are they collectors's items or just curiosities?

He had a Beretta model 70 which I snapped up and has a French MAB model D in .32 he wants $250 for. At least the MAB fits in with my other .32acps....but what I'm waiting for is for him to price two Walther PP .22 Sport models.

In the meantime, if anyone has the backstory on the 61 or experience with one, I'd appreciate hearing it.

I have had several...and currently own a -2 blue.

They can be a little picky for what they will feed for ammo. First one I had would only run HS ammo...the second one only liked Target speed...the third would run anything...

Have not run this one enough to know what it really likes.

The -1 and -2 have cast frames. The -3 is a forged frame. Not really sure what difference it would make unless one is shooting a lot of ammo through the gun.

Not sure what the going price is now. Would suggest you check over on GunBroker. If it doesn't have the box, small blue zipper pouch, paperwork and cleaning kit it is just a shooter...

I bought mine about 10 years ago in an original S&W holster but no other accessories for $150.00.
