5926 failure to extract
I picked up this 5926 late last year but between sending it to have recall work done and coronavirus madness I didn't get to shoot it until today. I have two other 3rd Gen S&Ws, a 1006 and 4013TSW which have been nothing but reliable so I expected this to be as well. In 250 rounds of mystery meat range reloads I had 3 failures to extract which would cause double feeding and it was highly disappointing. Has anyone else had this experience with their 5906s or 5926? I was planning on using this gun strictly as a range toy anyway but it's still troubling. It belonged to a LEO before and I have no idea what was done with it or how many rounds had gone through it but it looked in mostly good shape other than some holster wear.

I would change the recoil spring and shoot the same amount of factory new ammunition before I would worry about it.

So the extracted case was still in the ejection port and the next round was caught on the barrel feed ramp?
1. Check the ejector, make sure it is not damaged or broken.
2. Check the extractor hook for damage.
3. Make sure you are using the correct recoil spring, 14 pounds is the proper rating.
4. What ammo were you using?

The extractor and ejector didn't look off but I also don't have much of an eye for either and removing the extractor looked more complicated than I was comfortable doing on my own. I do have a spare guide rod and a wolf 14 pound spring I'll swap into it just in case. The ammo I also considered to be a potential culprit since the only 9mm available was some of the range's reloads (124gr) which have always been iffy and now that they're out of factory 9mm entirely and packed with customers it's the dirtiest I've seen yet and any qc they might have had on it has likely gone out the window.

I have a tendency to think the problem is not with your gun but the mystery meat range reloads. Try some other ammo before you start tinkering with anything, factory brands if possible.

Based on your description of the ammo you were using, I'd say it's the ammo. Try some factory ammo.
