HI folks,newbie here.Please re-direct me if in the wrong forum.I am just curious on what year 410s I have? How to decipher the model number or serial? or do i need to call smith and wesson?

If you have the box, the SPEC ORD number is a julian date.

If you post the serial number, we can probably tell you the approximate date your handguns were shipped. If you aren't comfortable posting the entire number, replace the last 2 or 3 digits with XXX.

I assume you have a semiautomatic handgun(s) in .40 S&W caliber and not the Smith and Wesson Governor which takes .410 shotshells. Either way, we need more information.

i purchsed it in 2006 (new) as a 10 round. 410s. the gun shop told me it was the last production of the u.s.a made?

Is there a 4 digit number next to the serial number on the label?

Example - 4090 = 90th day of 2004

Here are some excerpts from the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, 4th edition.

Model 410: Value series 3rd generation full-size .40 S&W

Caliber - .40 S&W, Traditional Double-action, 10-shot Magazine, with a full-size frame, 4" barrel, .260 serrated hammer, .304 smooth combat trigger, single side external safety, straight backstrap, white dot front sight with 2-dot rear fixed sight. This new Model replaces the 411 in the "value series" line. in 2002 this model was made with a Hi-Viz front sight. In 2003 S&W produced this model with a stainless steel slide and a satin finish aluminum alloy frame called the 410 S. In 2005, this model was upgraded with a 11-round magazine after the assault weapons ban expired. Produced 1996-2007.

So yours was made near the end of production although you say it came with a 10 round magazine.
