4056TSW
Here is a rare one. The 4056TSW.
Does anyone know how many were produced or about how much they are worth?
I think it was one of the first TSW series pistols produced.
It is a no-rail, all-steel, short DAO, .40S&W pistol.
The Smith short DAO trigger coupled with the all-steel construction make shooting the 40S&W very controllable and easy.
It's a heavy little guy though which might be why the production run was so short.
Really nice gun in it's own right.

SCSW 4th edition says:
"Brief production, quantity made unknown, few sales reported. It's possible this model will bring more for rarity in the future".
Produced 1997.
ANIB - $700, EXC - $500, VG - $400.
Of course those values aren't likely to be the current market rate, which can be tough to determine with an uncommon model. I like it! Do you have all the extras?

I like it! And no goofy rail, another plus. I have no idea about the price. The market (and whoever "they" are) has poo pooed the 40 S&W for no good reason. It's a great defensive caliber, and that's a very good looking gun. Congratulations!

Thanks for responding. I guess I need to get the fourth addition. The gun was not mentioned in the 3rd addition.
I'm not sure about all the extras. I have to look around.
When I got this thing back in the day, I sent it off to Novak's for an action job and a gold bead front sight, Novak's plain black wider notch rear. Pretty nice.
It came back with an action as smooth as frozen snot.
It hasn't been carried or shot much at all.
I've never seen another one so am curious.

Thanks. In a steel gun like the 4056 or 4006, the .40cal is not hard to control.
I know the .40 in not in style but it wasn't lack of effectiveness that pushed it out of the limelight.
It's a compact, easy to shoot, powerful package.
It's heavy compared to the polymer wonders but I like it.

I just Googled "S&W 4056" and the very first result contained the following:
From Post #6: "Estimated that around 1100 were manufactured, mostly in the MSE10xx - MSE20xx range; but a VJA9576 serial number has been observed." That post also has a great chart of 3rd Gen info.
From Post #18: "For anyone that remains interested, the 4056 sold for $1,185" (That was in Jan 2016)

Pre-rail 4056TSW
Yes, they didn't make many.
It's the only all stainless steel compact .40 they made.
At 37oz. it's heavier than the all steel large frame 4516 (35oz.).
It's my little .40 sledgehammer.

SCSW 4th edition didn't add much to their vague writeup on it.
As usual this forum is the best resource for real information.
