Default New to me 3953

Picked up this 3953 yesterday. Bought it from the original owner with box, manual and 3 mags. I have a few other 3rd gens but this is my first DAO. This 3953 is VERY clean except for a couple marks on back of slide (some call the idiot marks). Pics are not the greatest and there is a bit of oil on it. Looking forward to shooting it and perhaps getting it "tuned" to 6-7 lbs trigger pull (if possible).

Nice looking gun, wondering if former Law Enforcement - those are the only ones I have ever seen with markings on right side.

Interesting comment ACEd. I checked the box label and indeed it is marked special with Product Code 108503. 4th Edition lists 2 product codes. First is 108502 and the second is 171107 (PC Variation). Seller actually wanted to keep box label but gave it to me after blacking out officer name and badge number. Pic attached.

Two years ago, I was picking up a rifle I had ordered and saw a 3953 with three mags in box with papers for $299. I couldn’t justify it since I had just spent $600 on the rifle. I regret not getting it at that price. Looked almost new. Box wasn’t even creased.

The DOA S&W's never seemed to get a lot of love, but I had a 3953 and 5953 and thought they were perfect carry guns at the time. I liked the short smooth trigger pulls.

Agreed on the love, but I'm warming up quickly. I have a 3953. I was looking for a 6906 to try and found a 6946 (DAO). I have to say, I can make this leap to DAO pretty quickly.

Default Oh that is nice.....

...and I'm so envious. I'd like to increase my 3rd gen ownership but it'll be a long time til I can afford anything.

Take it out and shoot it a fair amount before deciding on any trigger work. I find the DAO guns to have very smooth triggers that are easy to use without any modifications. Also may want to consider that the only safety on the gun is the trigger pull.

Nice 3953. Enjoy!

I am a big fan of the S&W Model 3953 and it is my EDC.

I carry it in an IWB Don Hume H715-M holster. The entire rig with loaded pistol is only 32 ounces.

Interesting. Why the 5946 slide?

Sort of a S&W version of a Colt CCO (Commander length slide on a Officer's frame). In this case a .longer 5946 slide on a smaller 3953 frame. Not much harder to conceal than a standard 3953.
