Took the 4516 to the Range today. It had been in the Safe the past 6 years, since I got a Shield.40.
I purchased it new, in January of 1990 as an Off-Duty Gun and I had used it for my annual re-quals until I got the Shield.
Picked a Bay in the Action Range that had a Plate Rack, so distance was 50 feet. Using WW 230 white box, I was 4 for 6, 5 for 6 twice, and finally 6 for 6...It was in the high 90s with Heat index in triple digits...I had to keep stopping and dry my hands, which were soaking wet...it’s good to shoot under adverse conditions, as it simulates stress.
The only issue was a failure to lock back on an empty mag, only happened once and When I got Home and cleaned the Guns, I removed the Floorplates and found one Yellow Follower Mag, with the metal bottom tab not attached in front to the spring...easy fix and angles the spring forward..3 Yellow Follower, 2 Black Follower Mags...The Trigger pull is long, SA or DA..I like the Shield .45 better, much better Trigger, Striker Fire is easier to shoot for me... Still recovering from Spinal Surgery and numbness in fingers...was able to load 6 in the Mag. W/O using the Maglula Loader...Can’t do it with the Shields, have to use the Loader.
Couple years back, picked up a Browning SA .22.. Serial shows 1970 Belgian...For Father’s Day/ Anniversary. Wife got me a Browning Carry case for it..I put a B24 in a Target Stand and @ 50 ft. Fired 20 rounds Standing, using the open sights....L-R measured 1 inch, height just under 2 inches... CCI Std.velocity. I really like this Browning...all in the 10 and 9...Vertical dispersion was me... Breath control....Last time out with the Browning , was a couple months out of surgery and had to shoot off the bench, seated.
Didn’t want to keep sweating on that Browning, had already REN waxed it twice,Nice little Rifle,so called it good to go. I’ve got a Remington 552 for a regular go anywhere shoot any ammo .22....
Guns are clean, back in the Safe ,and I’m back in the Air - conditioning , so it’s all good . Be Safe.
