S&W 945 Date of Manufacture
Hi
Looking for info around my 3.75" 945, ambitious thumb safety, was the first pistol (used) I picked up when I got my CCW, have shot diff matches with it, great gun overall, super tight, only true complaint is its too tight after about 40-50 rounds through it, a full cleaning is needed or it will not cycle properly, prior to that it's perfect, not the end of the world just clean between matches
Serial is CMF0086, what was the manufacturer date and any other details?
Thanks
RVelle

Catalog of Performance Center 945 Variants
Probably a 170169(A), but the ambi safety is interesting, perhaps it was added later?

Thanks Skjos, at least now I know the manufacturer date of 2000, but I don't think the ambi safety was added after...pics added...Either way thanks, haven't shot it in awhile, but I'll have to change that this year
Thanks

That is a very unique trigger, I haven't seen any like it.

Even though I don't like to shoot the shorter barreled 945's , I'd be happy to have that one in my harem .

Hmmm. Wonder what the story is on that trigger ? Any marking or indication of a maker ?

Thanks CPM
Skjos/Erickson- I had assumed the trigger was normal production, so maybe the ambi safety was a custom add, but trigger has no markings I can see, pics attached

It is somewhat “Caspian like” but not. There’s LOTS of CNC shops turning out artistically custom triggers. I’ll stick with my Videki’s, (or I suppose now days his design.) I guess I’m too old school though.
If it works perfect every time that’s great. Is it adjustable?
Regardless of any changes made to it that is a super very nice 945 you have.

Jim - Thanks...I'm not sure if it's adjustable, I like the way/where it breaks so never tried to adjust but will take a closer look next time I need to clean it...it was a lucky first add to the collection, as a first pistol I wasn't sure what to buy and the shop owner said it was a good deal about 17 years ago at $750, so I took a chance , 2nd gun purchase was an AR...happy with those and a handful of others I lucked upon

You’re kidding? What a crazy great first pistol to get. That’s a fine 945 and story. I’m surprised you haven’t succumbed, (or maybe you have,) in getting another “one or two” more vintage PC’s or others.
Regarding my question about adjustability, (over travel,) it would be apparent if there is a set screw. It doesn’t matter. I’m just wondering if a custom trigger like that could or might be adjustable. I’ll bet the trigger break is perfect anyway so any stop probably wouldn’t be necessary.
Again nice 945.

Thanks again...no other 945s, did pickup a 340pd, that was another lucked upon purchase, that one is the only revolver I own and I LOVE that gun (main rotation of that and a Glock 30)...there is a set screw in the 945 trigger.
