Default My S&W 457

I typically carry a 1911, but after a recent wrestling match with a young calf, I decided that I wanted something that I didn't mind scratching if I ended up rolling in the dirt again. Went to my LGS looking for a Glock 30 and I found the 457. I remembered reading good reviews on them on the forum, and it weighs about the same as a lightweight Commander

$350 otd with 2 mags, and it was already scratched ;-)

Added a spurred hammer and a set of Hogue's, it's my 'new' farm gun.

I have two, and for that price i would have three (for parts if nothing else). I think you did great! Good luck to you.

Congrats! One of, if not the most, underated 45 carry guns out there. I have more than gotten my money out of mine and still use it regularly. Enjoy yours! Regards 18DAI

Great pistol...!!! I carry mine often...

Re change of hammer: Many 457 came with MIM parts (Trigger, hammer and sear). If your previous hammer was MIM, then you have a MIM sear. It is my understanding that MIM sear isn't compatible with regular steel hammers (like the one you installed). So, you may have to change you sear to a regular steel sear...

Great score! I’m not in the market for a mini-45, preferring a full size, but wow! At that price I’d have to have one just to have the additional option for everyday CCW to give my little revolver snubs a break. You did well indeed.

Excellent little 45s! I carried one for a few years myself. You scored that one at a good price, even by Louisiana 3rd Gen prices, which tend to be much lower than a lot of other places. Great buy, my man.

That's a good price these days. With the surge in demand for guns, even 3rd Gens prices are going up. A shop up here in MA had a 457 sitting in the case for a couple of months at $399.00. I noticed over the weekend that it sold. The 3913 they have listed with one magazine at $499.00 is still sitting there, but it might sell too given the demand for 9mm guns.

I recently bought a lnib 457s complete in box with papers and fired cartridge for 400. After careful examination thanks to this forum I believe it to of not been fired outside the factory.
