Default 5906TSW value

Greetings. I used to be an active member here and used to run my 5906TSW in matches constantly. Used to be a key word. I don’t think I have shot that gun more than once in the last decade so it’s time to let someone else enjoy it. Now my 686+ gets regular workouts.

I am having trouble finding a price for the gun currently. It’s a 5906TSW with the rail attached. Stock and I would say in good condition. What is an average price for this gun?
Any help greatly appreciated.

I’ll give you a buck three eighty!

Idk... I got my police trade in with night sights for $550 2 years ago. I’d assume you could get a bit more now due to the panic buying.

Just curious, what made you mothball your pistol? I have other guns, but I still enjoy shooting mine. Just curious.

It's hard to put a number on it but I'll just point out there are very few 9mm TSWs passing through GunBroker, at least compared to 40s. People seem to be holding on to theirs, I certainly wouldn't give it away.

Pictures would help in figuring value.

DM: I think kids and a glock 17. I held out as long as possible from the glocks but once I got it I started shooting it way more accurately than the 5906. Then I just had no time and decided to stick with one gun.

Rufus: right. I did the gunbroker search and got from $550 to $750 for a NIB. Then I saw a seller that had PD trade ins but they have no rail. And that gun needs the rail. I have an offer for a local sale at $450. That seems a bit low but would be an easy transaction. If the value was $550 then a local sale at $500 would be an easy decision, don’t want to be greedy but why leave money on the table?

I will post pictures as soon as I get back in town.

Hi I am not sure of your logic as the 5906 is not made anymore, but assuming very good condition, I would put it at $650-$700 " Covid Houston retail". Dealers and pawnshops will certainly offer less. My steel S&Ws would be about the last guns that I would sell - even without rails.

Six 5906 TSW sold on GB in the last few months, all of them after a high number of bids. Two TSW without rail attached, four with rail.

$1,201/$0.01 ANIB
$1,100/$0.01 ANIB
$1,075/$649, "mint"
$ 900/$699, used w. 4 mags

Other prices were $550, $740, and two ended without a sale recorded at $865 and $848.

Out of those that did sell, all but one seemed to sell at premiums of $300+ over a comparable 5906 (I originally wanted one with a rail, but I am cheap, so that seemed like too much additional money for my modest budget)

I don't think the 5906 is on the approved list to ship to CA, rail or no rail (according to another member here). So at least we can't blame them for the prices. If that ever changes, watch out!

Thank you for the additional price info. Wow truly surprised by the prices.

Houston Rick, yeah I love this gun still but with a creeping arthritis that long first pull is getting worse and worse every year.

Pictures would help in assessing value.

One on GB now starting at $749.99 (BIN available at $859.99) with no bids.

Used 5906 (not TSW) seem to be in the $400-500 range with NOS units in the $700-750 range (NOS not on GB sold out fast at $566, - others in the 6xx range but those too all gone now - Buds has 8 left in store only - last posted price $73x)

The last new ones to surface a few years ago were pretty expensive - Smith & Wesson 5906TSW Tactical 9mm Police Trade-ins (New in Box) | Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore

If it is in decent shape and comes with the original box and paper work. Expect at least $700 given today's conditions. The 5906tsw is a sought after collector's piece.
