Default Model 41 barrel

In last nights paper a model 41 S&W 5” barrel was advertised
I called number and made arrangements to see it.
Got there barrel has been drilled and tapped.
Got the price lowered and bought it.
Did I screw up. What’s it worth

You realize that later versions were drilled/tapped from the factory!

I do not think sporter barrels were drilled and tapped.
That started in the 90’s this barrel would be older, I think

Depends on how much it cost. Looks like a fun shooter spare barrel. Did it fit and function correctly?

Value is as a shooter only - Would estimate $275 - $315. If not D&T, add $125 - $150 based on appearance. Would be more if an earlier variation and VG-Exc condition

Anything less than 200 is a great deal for a 5” field barrel. They go for 400+ on ebay.

The guy that screwed up was the one that sold the barrel for under $200!

I’m in agreement with Tom that three hundred would be a fair price for a 5” that had been drilled & tapped. With the stand up ampersand, I’d guess your barrel is a late 70’s or early 80’s production.

Since it’s already D&T, you might consider a Burris Fastfire or similar red dot sight for it.

Install a Weaver #62 optic rail and mount whatever you want on it.

Hello Dave, less than $200 and it fits and functions, what a buy!
Any day and all day, plus a 5" to boot. Great buy.

I wondered when it was made,
Is not a bright finish . Was really
Looking for 5.5 target barrel.
But price was right

I would have waited for a better one without being drilled - but that's just me......

No, he did it right! Get one when you can, shoot it, & enjoy it until you can trade up for a better one if he wants to.

I have already decided to try to trade
It for a 5.5" target barrel .
Now to try and find someone
Who wants a field barrel.
