Question S&W Model 41 Markings

I just ordered a new S&W Model 41 Pistol from Buds Gun Shop. Upon inspection, the roll markings on the gun are not consistent, hard to read, and finish is not what I expected. The gun I purchased was Mfg in March 2020, and according to S&W Customer Service was to have white laser markings which it does not.I have not yet accepted the item from my FFL.
The FFL just received a used Model 41 which has a much nicer finish, clear laser white markings (S/N UBD3471). Not sure of mfg date.
The gun I ordered has a 2-line Mfg marking:
SMITH & WESSON
SPRINGFIELD. MA. USA
The used gun has a 4-line Mfg marking:
MADE IN USA
MARCAS REGISTRADAS
SMITH & WESSON
SPRINGFIELD, MASS.
Can anyone comment on the different markings, and what appears to be a poor quality fit & finish on the new pistol.

Search the site and you will see posts talking about when they moved the 41 from Houlton, ME to Springfield MA. They use to be made with care and the current production is more of speed then quality.

I bought a new PC 41 and the 22 long rifle was laser etched crooked on the barrel. It had several other issues but S&W ended up replacing the slide and barrel. The new PC barrel had machine marks in every Picatinny rail slot. I kind of got to the point of not sending it back for fear it would come back worse then when I sent it in.

Choose the one you like better and hope it shoots well.

UBD prefix to serial number would be 1997-1998 manufacture time frame. I'd go with the older made one if I was in your shoes.

As far as I know, Mod 41's were always made in Springfield. If they moved it would have been later, to Houlton.

Before the latest 41s were moved to Springfield MA they were made in Houlton, ME. I have some of both. I agree before Houlton, ME they were made in Springfield MA.

Don, nice to see your response! If anyone would know it should be you. I sent you a PM about the 41s if you could be so kind to respond.

I expect someone here could probably fill in actual dates.
