Default Since I look at my 41 more than I shoot it.

Since I spend more time looking at some of my collection than shooting them I decided to make a display case for my favorite. It is a dusty work in progress, but I thought I would share it before I finish it. The wood is Cherry with a Macassar Ebony accent. The insert was cut from MDF and covered with stick on felt from Rockler. The first picture is a jig to cut the grooves in the corners to reinforce the glue joints with splines. Have ordered hinges and magnets for holding the top in place. Have not decided on a stain and finish. It will hold the pistol with either the 5 1/2" HB or the 5" that I cut down from a new 7" and had crowned by a local gunsmith. As I planned to use a reflex sight on the 5" the lack of a front sight was a plus. Some guns are a pleasure to look at as well as to shoot.

Very nice work. I shoot my Model 41 way to much to keep it in a display case.

With corona virus still running rampant, I look at all of my guns more than I shoot them...

I heart me some of that ugly mustard yellow iron you have there.

Stained and varnished with a few coats of poly. Instead of hinges and a latch of some sort, I counter sunk small magnets in each corner of the top and base. No visible means of attachment but it is strong enough to lift the box (with the gun in it) by the top. Slide the top a half inch in any direction and it lifts off.

I bet you could sell many of those nice looking cases if you wanted. Your case looks very good!

Very nice Display Case. The Craftsmanship is Excellent!
I really like the Magnet idea to attach the cover.

Out of curiosity, where did you get the Sight Base that
fits into the Rear Sight Dovetail?

Thank you for Sharing your Project and Pictures.
