Smith and Wesson model 4566 tactical
Hey guys just brought this one home. Nothing beats a good ol 3rd generation 45 auto! It came with the original case, paperwork, and extra S&W magazine. I collect Smith and Wesson everything so I'm very glad to be here with like minded people

Nice score!
But I would ditch the extra grip thingie. The stock grips on my two 4566s work just fine for me.

Smith and Wesson model 4566 tactical
Thank you! I do like the xeytel or whatever grips alot. It just came with the Hogue overmold grip and to be honest its like glue in my hand. Some people don't like the Smith and Wesson 3rd generation grips but I think they look fantastic because it reads Smith &Wesson on either side and has the logo on either side plus they have good checkering and the front strap is serrated.

I prefer the OEM grips with either a Pachmyar or Hogue grip sleeve. Like you, I find that those sleeves fit my hand well.
Others have other opinions, but that's what makes America great!

Another plus vote for the Hogue Handall. Goofy name, but they work!

Great looking gun. I fired a 9MM Tactical when S&W had their indoor range near the facility back in 2000. Loved the gun but settled on a CS-9 for compactness. Hope ya got a good deal.

Congrats! Welcome to this section.
Add me to those who use a rubber grip sleeve over their OEM grip. Anchors the gun in my hand while shooting. Enjoy that fine 45! Regards 18DAI

Thank you! I did get a very good deal on it. Considering it came with the matching case, all paperwork, extra magazine and the Hogue handall overmold grip. I just love everything Smith and Wesson and couldn't pass this one up. Very clean

All 3rd generation Smiths
The 945 is a fine 45 auto for sure! Send one my way too or a 4506! All 3rd generation Smith semiautos are awesome. I wouldn't say no to a 1006 either!

Looks like you have a 2003 ship year on that beautiful pistol. I have one that was shipped in 2004 but it was a PD trade in.

Thank you! I'm gonna keep this one a bit longer. Haven't even took her to the range yet! I did however post a video on YouTube about cleaning it up and polishing the feed ramp. Go check out my channel: heavydutyreviews

Agree.
Felt-recoil with the stock grip is easily controllable. Plus, why ugly up the clean lines of the gun?

Thank you! Hey do you think it would be ok to put in a stouter recoil spring and shoot 45 Super through this S&W 4566 tactical?

That black finish 4566tsw is very rare by the way. I think those were strictly law enforcement. Very nice!
