I have a 5906TSW, 4003TSW, and CHP 4006TSW. I like them all, but for several years I have been on the lookout for a 5903TSW in excellent condition for a reasonable price, with no luck.

Reading some other posts on here about 357 sig conversions and a lightbulb went off about exchanging slides and frames. I just tried fitting and the complete upper 5906TSW slide seems to fit and function perfectly on either 40 cal frame. Any reason I shouldn't try my 5906TSW slide on the 4003TSW frame at the range? It would be my favorite combination of capacity vs weight. Thanks.

5906TSW Replacement Barrel or 4006tsw conversion?

Short version is you can interchange slides between 9mm and .40S&W TSW pistols with no problem because the 5906TSW is built on a 4006TSW frame. You can also put a 5906tsw barrel into a 4006tsw slide to do an easy caliber conversion from .40 to 9mm. I have done this with no problems for accuracy or reliability, but do so at your own risk, and keep in mind that a regular 5906 barrel won’t work. Only the TSW versions will interchange.

I will add the caveat that due to the fitted production of the slide and frame for most of the TSW pistols, it may be possible that certain slides and frames won't interchange. I have successfully swapped out a 5906TSW slide onto a 4006TSW frame, but the 4006TSW slide would not completely fit onto the 9mm frame. Then I tried it on another 4006TSW CHP and they both swapped and function checked fine. Haven't actually fired either of them though, but nice to know I could have an integral-rail 5906TSW.

Range update. I fired the 5906TSW slide on the 4003TSW frame, with no issues. Accuracy and function seemed to be the same as in normal configuration.
