Had my birthday recently, and as part of the festivities, I wanted to swing by one of the local shops and DROS a contender pistol I had on hold for awhile.
But every time I go there, I always hope something rare or cool shows up on the used/consignment side.
Sure enough, I looked along the mostly bare glass cases, and sitting next to aN IL 6” 686 was a stubby smith auto.
In between customers, I asked one of the guys I know if I could take a look.
It was a stainless CS40. When I was younger, I longed for the Shorty Forty of the 90s; while it’s no shorty, I couldn’t pass it up. Plus the fiancée said I should
Ima call it the chunky forty.
I dros next week sometime; in the meantime I’ve been reading all I can on here.
It’ll be my first .40 so I finally covered the 9/40/45 trifecta.
No factory box/case or papers, but it came with some factory mags, and overall it’s it decent shape.
I already want to change out the grips (the factory grips are chunky) and the sights for some Trijicons.
For those that bought the KSD wood grips, are they at least somewhat slimmer than the Hogues? Is anyone still making the Delrin grips for these too?
Lastly, Skjos notes in his thread that the prefixes TDR-TDS seem to be more exclusive to the two-tone. IIRC this one begins with TD so I’m curious if mine’s a rare bird.
(I should have memorized the serial before they put it away)
Anyways, just thought it share : )
