Default Another "New" Gun: 39-2 (My Second)

Saw a 39-2 in my local pawn shop that was too well priced to pass up. Grips were in terrible shape but otherwise it was nice with just a tad of holster wear. I took it home with me.

It's my second and now I'm worried; I think I read somewhere (here!) that these model are particularly addicting.

I had some fancy wrap-around grips in my box of spares so I replaced the beat up ones with something newer. Gun looks kinda nice, if a little less classic than I normally do.

Serial says it's from 1970-71. My other is from 79-80 and has MPD pencil engraved with a rack number on the right side. No biggie, I like a bit of history with my pistols. (Note: the newer gun is much more "worn" than the older one. Matter of fact, the earlier one is in pretty amazing shape for it's age. We'll be shooting it next week.)

Welcome to the group, brother..... who told you that the Model 39, the classiest, most beautiful, most noticeable by its appearance, autoloader ever made, was addicting....? Hmmm? Good choice in picking it up. They are a fantastic auto and possibly the easiest pointing and most comfortable auto to fire.

The Illinois State Police are responsible for the subsequent improvements of this model after they adopted it as their overall on/off duty issue sidearm. You will find them rather "addicting" and like Lays potato chips you can't buy only one....

Looks a little cosmetically challenged, but far from horrible. Looks like it is a nice, shooter grade Model 39-2. Congratulations and I'm sure we are all looking forward to a range report.
