Smith and Wesson 4506-1
I purchased a 4506-1 earlier this year and am thinking about selling it.
I am a huge fan of 45ACP but I much prefer 1911's to DA/SA in 45....
This 4506-1 has had less than 500 rounds through it between myself and its previous owner....
Comes with original factory box, 2 magazines, manual. Everything it "should" have.
What would be a ballpark value on this weapon? I cant find any similar online at this time.
Thanks!

I have several. I would value the range from 700-1100.

Just a quick look of recent sales looks like $800.00 +. I think that’s high but I wouldn’t sell mine for that.
I don’t follow sales of 4506’s so I was surprised. But again everything is selling, and selling for higher prices.
I actually have an early 4506-1 that I bought new and I really liked it. So much I bought another. I still have the first one and plan on keeping it. It’s been more than perfect and incredibly accurate with its favorite hand loads.

Letting it go for anything less than seven bills is a mistake IMO.
A couple of years ago you could not give them away around here. That is no longer the case. Clean ones are bringing good money today.

In today's market $1000 easy. It's a sellers market right now.

You picked a great time to sell. A year ago that would be worth $600, but today I'd say $800 to $1000, depending upon where you live.

Depends on where you sell it too.
I only paid a little over $500 for my 4506 right before the China Flu was released in the same kind of condition with 4 mags, a new set of K&N grips, an unopened set of factory grips and a brand new DeSantis holster? I realize that's an absurd price, but it was on consignment at one of my local gun shop. Gun Broker would yield a higher return though.

Paid $600 for mine this time last year from a small local shop, like new. I’m sure you could get more than that for it though.

Down in Louisiana, you wouldn't get more than $600 max for it. But, 3rd Gen prices tend to be lower here than some other parts of the country, so you may be able to get a bit more where you are.

I would not mind another one, but will wait to get another until the madness subsides and my wallet thickens.

The China flu will be with us from now on like the common cold and the seasonal flu, things will get back to normal eventually.

Damn, mine is possibly worth that much? I paid under $200 for mine over a decade ago.

More like measles, mumps, and whooping cough; somewhat common diseases until a vaccine is available and widely used.

I was never a fan of the adjustable rear sight 3rd Gen models. I'd probably pay a bit more for a fixed rear-sight 4506-1 that was in excellent condition.
YMMV.

Welcome to the S&W Forums.
I agree, adjustable sights are fine for range, target, and hunting firearms, but I prefer fixed sights on a carry firearm.

I have my 4506 carry gun, it has had 50 rounds through it. It is built like a tank and I will never sell it. It was issued just before I retired.

here's one listed as a 4506 but after closer inspection it appears to be a 4516

No, I am in NC. I believe Davidson’s (a distributor) received several Tempe PD trade in guns including 4506-1’s and Glock 22C’s
