1006 S&W 10mm
I recently bought a 1006 10mm and I'm having problems with the magazine. it seems that the ammo is not elevating due to the slight pinch point at the top of the magazine between the 1st and second round (from the top). I'm afraid to bend it and it is causing the gun to feed unreliably as the next round in the clip sometimes will not elevate or it will feed into the gun and not seat properly causing a light hit. I think it stems from the mag but I'm not sure. I already put a #20 recoil spring in the gun and now I am thinking I should replace the firing pin spring... but that mag is a pain in the ***.
any one have any suggestions?

First thing I would do is disassemble the magazine, clean thoroughly, check for burrs on the follower and magazine shell, and install a new magazine spring.

After I acquired my Gen III I had the same issue with a couple of my mags. They looked just fine, 2 of the followers kept getting stuck in different positions. Good cleaning with light solvent, completely dried, reassembled and worked just fine.
I found tiny bits of grit - couldn't see 'em, but they were there on the swabs.
As armorer951 said, take them apart, clean and lube them properly, then check function.
Light strikes could be gunk in your firing pin, channel, or spring.

I agree, first step is a thorough cleaning and de-greasing. You have no idea what the previous owner used for lubricant or cleaner, might have been one of those whose worshiped at the alter of WD-40, spraying down the mags and followers, creating an ever increasingly thick layer of polished gum.
