Default Some VERY nice folks in this section!

I notice, especially in this section of the board, there are some very kind, nice folks! Always willing to assist others and help out where they can. If I listed all that came to mind, this thread would run a dozen pages or more.

But for this thread, I wish to thank vigil617 for helping me aquire a "grail gun"!

I mentioned in 4T5GUYs thread on rail free TSW pistols a few days ago, that I had missed out on a rail free 4563TSW almost ten years ago. J&G in Arizona had some. LE trade ins from an Arizona agency, IIRC.

My friend vigil617 PM'd me later that day, that he had seen that exact pistol, on the big auction board. VERY kind of him! He had also communicated with the seller and obtained all the information I needed on the gun. A VERY good friend! Thanks again vigil617! Much appreciated!!

I needed to sell a gun, due to having no gun funds available, to facilitate the purchase of the rail free 4563TSW. Another good friend, member Jeppo, knowing I am "technologically challenged", Emailed me offering to post pictures of the gun I had for sale on a local gunboard for me. Thank you Jeppo! I appreciate you!

So, after ten years of regularly searching for the "one that got away", I will have it in my hands shortly. I am VERY grateful to vigil617 for finding the 4563TSW for me and for Jeppo helping me achieve the funds expeditiously. Thanks again my friends! I hope I am able to assist you some time in a similar fashion! Best regards, 18DAI

They must have been awfully good photos. The gun sold 3 minutes after posting.

Used 681. Nice sixgun. But I rarely shoot a revolver anymore.

So, it went to a good home where it will see plenty of use and be enjoyed. Regards 18DAI

I’ve never believed in “karma” but I guess I’m starting to get it.

Seems like this group at the S&W Forum, in particular this section really takes care of one another. Maybe it’s just because I hang out here the most? There is definitely something really great going on. It’s hard to imagine that most of us have never actually met, but we have an amazing supportive friendship regardless.

“18DAI”, you are one of the most “deserving” of us to finally realize a long time want/need.

Since we’re going down that road, I need to thank you, Chris, Chip and Josh in particular. But thanks to all.

Jim

The few people I’ve met from here have been good as gold.

They, and many I’ve never even met, have gone way out of their way to be helpful. I’ve bought guns from some of you. Bought guns some of you pointed me to. Heck, I even met a guy whose name was familiar. Later, going back thru old Private Messages, I discovered he’d sent me some valuable and useful parts; and wouldn’t even accept the cost of shipping...several years earlier.

4T5GUY thanks for the kind words. YOU are one of the nice folks who have assisted me too! Much appreciated.

And I am looking for a rail free 40 TSW for you (4003/4006/4013). I messaged a few retired LE guys I know to keep an eye out. Also for a rail free 3913TSW - IF one exists. And I suspect a few probably do. Regards 18DAI

I agree that the folks who inhabit this section are top drawer all the way. There are several folks here who truly qualify as experts in the field who further are willing to share help and advice to those of us just entering and who obviously have a lot to learn. Also there are innumerable members who are willing to share guns and parts within the community with no real expectation of financial gain, just helping out. I hate to think where I would be on my Franken-Smith Model 639 project without being able to “depend on the kindness of strangers” so thank you one and all.

Green Frog

PS Just to be fair, there are similar Folks I’ve worked with over in the revolver sections and even reloading and gunsmithing... this whole site is really full of friendly and helpful folks (and patient as well!)

Very thoughtful post 18, you failed to include one of those to whom you were referring, yourself. I completely agree with your thoughts and to those you directed them to, my experience has confirmed the same as I am a revolver person because of my age revolvers were the thing in the mid 60's. The good folks here have been very forthcoming with worthwhile & helpful information as I have sought to obtain a semi-auto for self defense. Just adding my thanks to 18DAI's.

You are more than deserving of them, JW, and as one of the long-standing Forum members here in Semi-Autos, you have helped out a long list of us indeed. I appreciate your kind words to me, and am humbled by them, and as I said in a message to you, what I did to help is exactly what you would have done (and have!) many times. And i agree that the karma you've given out has come back around, deservedly!

Looking forward to the pictures and write-up on that 4563TSW!

As smooth a talker as you are, Jeppo, I wouldn't be surprised if you've bought some guns pointed AT you, too!

I see a bunch of the usual suspects are here

In my case, I've never been able to be a big gun guy, but in the past 10-12 years I acquired 2 semis and 3 revolvers, all Smith&Wesson. They were all gifts, prizes, or hand-me-downs, no cost to me.

I have only one Gen III, my prized pistol. Because of that, I seem to spend a lot more time here than just about any other site. I like reading about the finds, the problems, the bragging - with photos.

I've had limited opportunity to contribute, and I try to share when I can. So keep posting and sharing, all you nice metal pistol fans, and I'll keep reading and smiling.

"18"...your posts about the merits of the 4516 and subsequent dash variants is the reason I bought my very first .45.....AND the reason for switching from a Shield 9 that I was happy with at the time...to a 3913NL that ended up turning into 3 copies of the 3913.....AND then a 4506-1.....AND..not to forget the 4513TSW all because of you....which you actively looked for and steered me toward several...then talked me off a limb for an overpriced M457S that was for sale in your neck of the woods.....there is more credit I can give you for gun buying decisions I have made but mostly just enjoy you posts in this forum.....and for all that I "thank you sir"

I absolutely concur, This forum and sub forum is by far the best anywhere.

18 and several of the "usual suspects" have chimed in, assisted, sold things to me i needed, etc. Throwing a hand out to one with less knowledge or needing something is invaluable.

I thank all on this forum as the selfless assistance to another forum member while expecting nothing in return is priceless in today's world. I just wish and await the time i can contribute back something to one in need here.

With all the "chit" i have 3rd Gens are my favorite...

Best, Dave

vigil617 also helped me out in acquiring a 2206TGT; he won the pistol for a steal of a price on one of those big auctions sites, and I PM'd him on the excellent deal he made. He graciously offered me the pistol at the same price he won it for and we worked with the FFL to transfer the pistol to me instead of him. He went out of his way to hook me up with a great pistol and I'm very thankful for that.

Cool story, and glad you were able to get your hands on one of these rare, non-railed 4563TSW's 18DAI - couldn't have happened to a better person!
