3913 Pictures and Questions?
Got the 3913 this morning. Haven’t had the chance to shoot it, but will remedy that tomorrow.
I have looked at pictures of these guns over the last three days. I don’t believe I saw one with the
finish combo this one has: stainless slide with black frame. Common, unusual? Doesn’t matter, just curious.
‘Nother question: how do most people carry, with the safety/decocker down, needing to be pushed up, or with
decocker up, and ready to fire? As I recall, I carried my Model 39 ready to fire.
I didn’t notice until I got home and did a closer inspection, but what is the significance of
the T on a shield on the right side of the slide, just forward of the ejection port?

US Treasury?
I always carried my 3913 with the safety on, but I’d guess I’m in the tiny minority.

I’ve been watching this same pistol on the local forum and was intrigued by the dual tone. Almost moved forward but I already have 3 39xx models.
I had not noticed the logo - perhaps a gunsmith mark?
I’ll be following answers closely.
Congratulations on a nice pickup

I'm sure I'll be labeled a skeptic, but the black color on the frame does not look factory.

If you paid less than $600 for that 3913, you really scored. Congrats!!
Action by T are very fine custom jobs. GREAT triggers on the two I have gotten to shoot.
While I learned long ago to never say never when it comes to the S&W of the 80s and 90s, I agree with my friend GaryS. The black finish on the frame is likely not factory. And given the marking on the slide, likely done by T. It might be worth a call to Actions by T and give them your serial number to see if they have a record of the work done on that gun.
Wayne Novak use to provide a similar custom 3913, back in the day. Action job, melt, black coating on the frame with a silver slide. Very attractive looking pistol.
I look forward to your range report! And I wish I could shoot that pretty 3913! Regards 18DAI

Just to be clear, and I probably should have used a word other than "skeptic", I was observing that the finish didn't seem factory. I wasn't opining as to the quality of the work at all.
The flat black looks very nice indeed. Very striking.

I just recalled a factory two tone 3914. It was for sale by Ken Null. Of K.L. Null Gun leather fame. This is going back around 8 to 10 years ago.
It was marked 3914 on the black frame and had a silver, stainless IIRC - slide with Novak Night sights. It was for sale on the big auction board. I called Mr Null about it. To find out if it was a custom piece. It was not.
He told me it was a special order......for who I don't recall.....and there were less than 25 made. So, you never know! Regards 18DAI

What's to stop someone from putting a 3913 slide on a 3914 and calling it custom? Not being snarky...just asking. Maybe I'm missing something.

The board is fighting my ability to see the first two pics.
Wonder if Teddy dehorned the trigger guard, or frame, then
C-coated it black for appearances?
