Great price. I have one the same NIB. I've been thinking whether or not to shoot it. Too bad it's here in Australia.

Well......Granny use to say there was a.....something......for every seat. Theres your proof. The buyer could have gotten a lot nicer PC 3rd gen 9mm for that kind of money.
Don't get me wrong. The 5906TSW is a nice pistol. A lot nicer than the majority of them being made today. But even NIB, it is not a $1500 gun. IMHO of course. The seller should go buy a lottery ticket.

I agree but I just read a separate thread about a Night Hawk custom Hi Power that sold on GunBroker for $15,000! So there are some really strange things going in gun sales. I just wonder how many will pay the bill!

I'm not wealthy but I do have a decent 1st, 2nd and 3rd gen S&W collection and I bought a lot of them influenced by a couple of beers.
Any new in the box Smith 3rd gen to me is a hard one to pass on, even stone cold sober.
And it averages up the prices of the ones we own already own.
Win win.
Now think I'll have another beer and check out the guns for sale forum.

Wow. These are very nice guns. If you are a serious collector then that is likely worth it to complete or enhance a collection. If I were buying it just for it's usefulness as the tool it is.. there are better guns out there at that price point. I have paid top dollar on a select few guns to finish out a set. But that was offset by some great deals I got on others. ( No I did not buy this one)

I am a stickler for condition when it comes to 3rd genies.
I'm pretty sure I've mentioned that before here.
$1550 for that? Nope.
I paid $1675 for a pristine WVSP 4566TSW.
Maybe because it is in CT?

Considering I saw some chopped up Glock go for 8000.00 last week it doesn't surprise me. I see lots of crazy pricing last 4-6 months maybe its the lock down, people gotta do something crazy. Hope they do that when I decide to pitch a few of mine out.

It is a beautiful pistol. It sold for much higher than I would pay, but as long as the buyer is happy, all is well. I've watched a few of that seller's auctions - the numerous clear photographs ensure everyone knows what they are bidding on. That's a lot of money to me, but I know some people who would consider it a small sum. I enjoy looking at NIB examples of fine firearms, but am more of a shooter than a collector. I paid about $350 for my LE trade-in 5906TSW shooter a few years ago, and am happy to have it. The laser-etched markings are a bit faint (apparently pretty easily polished off by carrying in a holster), but it showed little mechanical wear when I bought it. It's still in very good shape many hundreds of rounds later. I couldn't afford one of those pistols when they were new, but used examples were a relative bargain a few years ago. I agree with 18DAI that they aren't in the same league as one of the PC 3rd gens, but they are still really nice handguns. The slide to frame fit is tight, the checkering and undercut on the frame is beautiful, the trigger pull (single and double action) and reset is superb for a production firearm. The only thing I really don't like at all about them are the riveted on rails.

Nice third and fourth gens are on sale around here for $1,300 to $1,500 and selling for that which were less than half that before the craziness this year. I would hate to see what would surprise me at this point.
