Default 5946 Users and Technical Manuals

I am the new owner of an old 5946. Love DAOs and couldn’t pass on owning an icon. However, while disassemble and assemble videos exist on YouTube, a detailed paper (pdf) manual eludes me. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I found a general manual on the Smith and Wesson website. This should help, go to Owner's Manuals | Smith & Wesson and look halfway down the page. You'll see Archived Owner's Manuals. Just below that is a pdf link for Metal Framed Centerfire Pistols. Click on that and you'll have your manual!

Seems like someone on the forum would have a pdf copy of the early manual. There was probably a copy on stevespages.com before the S&W manuals were hidden.

I have an owners manual for my 6946 and I think my 3953TSW. I wouldn't describe them as technical manuals since they don't tell you much beyond how to field strip, clean, lubricate, and reassemble them.

There is an exploded diagram with the name of each part, however it does not have the S&W part numbers so it's of limited value.

On the positive side, each page does not have more warnings in red than text with useful information.

I can scan it in and save it as a PDF if anyone is interested.
