I just saw a link where a 1006 with 2 mags sold for $1,804. Is that the new going price?

If true, that means mine's worth well north of $2K  ....
It's in minty condition and would come with the factory box, papers, and 15 'white-follower' magazines.
And three of those are still NEW in the UNOPENED plastic factory mag box.

I have seen similar Model 1006's sell for $1200 or more here in California about as fast as they appear on a gunshow table or on consignment at a retail store.
$800 would be on the low side almost anywhere I think.
The yellow mag followers can be swapped out for the white ones and the springs replaced with new ones from Wolff for a nominal amount so I wouldn't let that deter me.

My 1006 was brand new in 1992 and though I have lots of white follower magazines, I have a bunch of the yellow follower also and it was shipped with two yellower follower magazines.
My yellow follower mags have run 150, 165, 170, 175, 180 and 200 grain bullets in JHP, JSP, LTC, LSWC and plated FP configurations now for what is apparently 2-1/2 decades plus and they don’t choke on anything.
I didn’t follow the link but a 1006 has to be a total beater or broken or missing parts to be worth under $800 in the year 2020. And more in California.

$1800? I think someone got caught up in the heat of the moment and decided they had to have it, regardless! Either that or they have, or did have, lots of money and little knowledge of what it is actually worth.

I agree that the pistol's valuation gets a boost when the sales context is California.

I was expecting there to be 8-10 magazines to go with. Regardless...if the buyer is happy, I'm happy for the buyer.

IIRC I paid $900-ish for a 1076 in really nice condition & considered it a good deal.
Throw in 10 mags with that 1006 & I might consider $1800.

I thought the TEU prefix stood for Test, Evaluation Unit for the FBI. Did not know they put them on 1006.

My guess is the California location of this sale has a LOT to do with the price. The 1006 is definitely not on the approved list, and it is definitely not C&R.

LSB has been a premium seller on GB for a long time. I have purchased from them. Their website has an archive of some of their sales. A similar 1006 sold for $2,345 and was posted in the archive on 10/4/2019. If you paid $500 for one 15 years ago, you would be smiling.

I would normally agree with you. I almost always prefer adjustable sights on my guns with the exception of a carry only piece. However, in regards to 3rd gens I find the opposite to be true. I much prefer the fixed sights because the adjustable sights on the 3rd gems are so large and bulky as well as the opposite of pretty (IMO). Even when they came out they were generally eschewed because of looks. I believe the market generally gives more for fixed sight 3rd gens. Feel free to prove me wrong.
Of course the LPA and Aristocrat sights on the Performance Center guns are also exceptions. They look really good.

I bought mine 15 years ago as new in the box complete. The only thing I did to it was modify the slide for the decocker only assembly.

My bad... looked through my old PMs... it was $1100 w/2 magazines in Feb of 2018. Still no regrets. It's a VERY nice shooter.

10mm have been really hot lately. Only ones on the roster are the 3rd Gen G20 and the Kimber 1911.

I paid 800 cash for a 1006 with one mag and a non-matching S&W box about two years ago. Given the gunflation we've experienced over the past year, 1000 to 1200 wouldn't be insane but would be uncomfortable for most to acquire.

Yep, definitely.
3rd Gen adjustable rear sights were impractical and atrocious-looking from the git-go. Moreover they're completely unnecessary on a dedicated carry gun.
Anyone claiming otherwise admits their 'taste' is confined to their mouth.

The 1006 is an evil gun. I picked one up about 6 months ago at a pawn shop going out of business for $600. Came with 3 mags and no box. My first 10mm. Got it to flip and then I shot it. Now I have a 1026, 1066 and a couple of 1076's. That "good deal" has cost me in the long run.

About 4 months ago I picked my 1006 w/2 mags for $1100. Knowing the current 10XX market, I thought it was a fair price. I’ve since picked up a few spare magazines ranging in price from $75 to $90.
