They pop up from time to time (NOS) and as much as I'd love the 5906, I'd be afraid to put any handling marks on it. Much less shoot it.
Beat it up a little and sell it to me?

I’m actually not so sure that is a bad price for a NOS.

Given the current condition of the firearms, ammunition, and toilet paper markets, $750 is not that far out of line, especially for being NOS.

My old formula...... subtract your age from 70 ..... divide $750 by that number ........ bet you'll find that 5906 well worth the annual cost of ownership!

Cabelas was selling NOS 5946's $700 few years ago. .Congratulations 5906 is a good hefty pistol very comfortable to shoot , will go through ammo quick. I put a straight grip on mine few months ago.

The 5906 is a beautiful pistol and a joy to shoot, but as stated - heavy, especially with a full mag. I prefer the 5903, which has the alloy frame.
Go with what you enjoy, just keep us posted!!

5906 stainless steel frame & slide
5905 blued steel frame & slide (rare)
5904 blued aluminum frame with steel slide
5903 anodized silver aluminum frame with stainless slide
The 5903/5904 are significantly lighter weight but arguably are not as robust
All above are Traditional Double Action - first shot will fire either Single Action or Double Action, Subsequent shots are Single Action
5946 is like 5906 but Double Action ONLY
5943 is like 5903 but Double Action ONLY

Straight and arched grips are interchangeable. I think most of the 9mm pistols shipped with arched grips, but some did ship with straight grips and I think you could order them with a straight grip.
By the way, the 5904 did not have a blued aluminum receiver, it was anodized with black dye added to the anodizing solution. It is not possible to blue aluminum.

BAM-BAM, according to your formula, those us over 70 shouldn’t buy guns since the cost per year becomes a negative number? By that method, each year past 70 would give a decreasing number per year. My head is starting to hurt.
Are we allowed to enjoy the ones we already have, or is that so small any more as to become negligible?

I said my "old formula"! A few years back folks were complaining about guns being "overpriced" by $100 or so ....... I developed the "formula" to show that in my case at the time it amounted to IIRC 2 Cups of coffee a year.
Under my formula today ...... that 5906 will cost me $250/year.
Thank goodness mine has only cost me about $15/year
For those of you over 70 consult with "TTSH" I published the formula for him and he's been studying it for at least the last 6 or 8 years. I don't know what conclusions he's reached as he's in Mass. and can't find any of the guns he wants for a price he's willing to pay!!!!!
