I think they went this way in the very earliest of 945 shipments before they had spit out a large run of the magazines specific to the 945 which yes, was exactly the same except with the notch a bit higher.
Let me also say that when you LOOK at them, it might appear as a physical potential weak spot. However, these suckers are strong, I mean STRONG. It is not weak, even if it looks like it.
They have printed wording to tell you not to use them in the other guns, but that must be simply a CYA. If you were in a drawn out fire fight with your 4506 and you inserted only to the first notch, your pistol would absolutely fail to feed. But for range use, they work 100% of the time.
With the help of a friend and his garage of amazing tools, we modified six of mine perfectly to mimic these exactly and I use them in both my 945’s and in my 745’s and 845 also.
