Bole Ind. SS 39 frame
There was a SS frame for a 39 up for sale. Just interested if any members bought it. It sold for $290. Curious.

I didn’t see it Mike... where was it being sold? ( Now that it’s closed.) If I didn’t already have my 639-based Franken-Smith just about finished, I would have been all over it, I had seen it.

I was able to snag it. I have been collecting NOS parts for years to do this build. Possibly a winter project.

Hello Mr. koski, glad a member snagged it. I remember seeing them for sale back in the mid 70s. Cant remember the dealer price.
Keep us posted on how the build goes. Curious if a loaded upper would slide right on and if the slide stop fit. thanks.

Me too, Mr Rskoski. First let me offer my congratulations on finding a truly rare and desirable treasure! As you may have noted, I am in the midst of building a similar project based on a Model 639 frame... pretty much the same end goal, but yours is more classic of course. Please keep us abreast of your progress with pictures, lots of pictures. We all love pictures here!
Are you planning on using a standard Model 39 blued slide? What about adjustable sights, ambidextrous safety, etc? I built a Model 39 with those features but then decided it was too nice an old piece to take out and beat around on the range and in the field, hence the second build using the 639 frame.
All the talk lately about the 3rd Gen autos has made me wonder why the 1st and 2nd Gen versions don't get more love. To me, the wrap around grip design of the 3rd Gen was "a bridge too far." I'm sticking with the onsies and twosies.
Stay in touch!
Froggie

I've been looking for a model 39 frame for years. I have a complete set of parts less the frame.
