Frame Wear on 6906
Recently noticed some wear on the front of my frame rails.
Wanted to show them here for any recommendations.
Was able to post the pics here.

I had a friend that shot his model 59 a lot and had excessive frame wear. I asked him what he was using for lubricant and he named a well known gun manufacturer's oil in a spray can. This is a very thin product and I suggested he switch over to a white grease product. That obviously can't resolve the wear already done but should reduce further wear. Stainless slides on alloy frames can cause problems. Others with more knowledge may have better or different ideas.

I know for a fact that when Glock ships a new pistol, their rails are lubed with copper-based anti-sieze.
I have a big bottle of nickel-based anti-sieze that is for stainless steel fasteners. I use that. Stainless steel and aluminum can gall, and that looks like galling Galling - Wikipedia
if it slides, grease it. if it rotates, oil it. (generally speaking)

Apparently the slide and frame have galled in the past since there is roughness on the bottom corner of the rail. If the slide moves smoothly on the frame I would do nothing more than keep it lubed with an oil containing Teflon, such as Break Free CLP, and shoot the gun. Be sure there is no remnant of galled metal still on the slide rails. Only smooth it enough to allow the slide to move freely if necessary. Just watch it in the future.
Since you say it is your defensive pistol do not use grease on the rails, it isn't necessary with Teflon oils, they will be sufficient. Grease can congeal in cold weather and cause functioning problems.
I had a galling problem one time about 20 years ago with my Shorty-Forty, which is a 4006, that caused the slide to stick to the rear while shooting. I did what I have told you and have never had another problem.
Read my sig. line!

My dept was the first large agency to issue autos and we issued S&W autos for 32 years. When I went thru our academy the lead range officer said that you know when you've got enough oil on your S&W when oil runs out the bottom of your holster and down your pant leg.
He was exaggerating a bit. But the point he was making was lube those guns. S&W autos aren't Glocks. They need lube.

An "incorrect" or, more likely a worn recoil spring can be suspect in frame cracking.
