Model 410 slide and barrel on a 910 frame?
Hello everyone hope your Christmas was great and a better year follows!
I am well aware of not firing 357 mag through a .38 etc. But I was wondering if the model 910 and 410 share the same frame strength, can I take a 910 frame and use a factory 410 slide and barrel on a 910 frame? I know it's not a good idea to do in most cases but these 2 models are not most guns. Thanks in advance!

Good question. If this was a 5906 and a 4006, I would say NO WAY. However, the 410 and 910 came later and they may have changed their approach.
I would need to see both the 910 and 410 frame before I signed off on the idea.
If you wanted to throw a 910 slide on a 410 lower, that would be easier to swallow.

Thinking another moment...
You won’t be able to use S&W .40cal magazines in a 910 frame unless you alter the frame or the mags. You could probably get away with using .40cal ammo in 9mm mags... but you might have to bend them up a bit and expect some feed failures as you tweak things.
It seems like a long way around, but it may be possible.

Great feedback. I am with you on that for sure if it were 9 on 40 frame no question. And I hadn't thought about mags either so thanks for that also!

First, welcome to the S&W Forums.
Second, it might be more effort than it is worth.

Sorry, Chewy73, 410 slide will NOT fit on a 910 frame.
The 410 slide's spring tunnel (up front) is too big to fit in to the dust cover area on the 910 frame.

Thanks for the info! Have had many 3rd gens and was never really curious about this until now. I bought one of the CHP pistols and installed a new draw bar that already had the play spring installed as there was no rivet hole for one in the original and I still shoot better with the 410. Probably has to do with the fact that it was the first handgun I purchased in 1996. Its my go to for sure.
