The only downside I see is the unique slide to frame fitment that it shares with only the 910. AFAIK, the frame internals and slide internals are like the other 3rd Gen pistols. The barrel is also specific for the 908 and 910. Anything you would have to service would be available.

Looks awesome! Minty for sure. One reason I check the used gun offerings. Often bought and put away or hardly fired at all.

I’m not sure that I follow. What are you saying?

I'm confused.... the SSV came out in 1991. That was before the 908, 910, and 915 even existed. The SSV is just a 5903 frame with a 6904 slide and barrel with a bobbed hammer. There is nothing different than any other 3rd Gen gun.

It looks like a 6904 slide and barrel on a 5906 lower.

It is exactly that, except it is an aluminum 5903 lower. Now, Big Blue did make a SSV for the 5906 steel lower. It was released as the 5967 and didn't have a bobbed hammer too.

My 5903 SSV is probably my favorite 3 Gen Smith ever. I won mine on gunbroker from a pawnshop owner from the north east . I got mine at a good price and was in near flawless condition , just a good cleaning and a new recoil spring and I carried it for a few years till I realize I might not be able to replace it if something happened to it .

My Model 5903 is an Atlanta Police Trade In with a spring job for heavier loads, it will never win any beauty contests with a number of scratches to the finish, I wish it could tell stories though. May yours be as fun to shoot!

Have had this PC SSV for over 20 years, was made for off duty match , I always just used my 6906 compact carry gun, with mag sleeve it accomplished the same thing.

custom-made-labels is the guy on Ebay that will make you a correct label for your pistol.
I've used him about half a dozen times and have been very happy with his work.

Cleaned her up and got her hanging out with the 92FS Centurion.
