Default TercGen Grips on CS9

As much as I liked the factory Hogue grips on my CS9, they were a little thick and tacky for a small concealed carry 9mm. I bought some “cut down” 3913 grips from fellow forum member TercGen a couple years ago and finally put them on. Great fit. Kind of surprised Smith and Wesson didn’t put them on the CS9’s in the first place. Knocks about 1/4 inch off the grip width. May not sound like much, but it really makes a difference for me. Job well done TercGen! Thank you.

I thought I plan, (procrastinate,) for a long time.

Those came out nice and look great on your CS. I committed to KSD’s on my CS’s before the TercGen’s were readily available. The KSD’s were way better for me than the factory ones but not any thinner.

I finally did get a TercGen grip on another CS I got. I swapped it out with the KSD I had on the blackened one. I was going to get rid of the blackened one, (I don’t “need” two CS9’s,) but it is perfect with the TercGen’s on it so I might just keep it.

People always ask how much thinner the TercGen’s are and I now can post a picture.

Jim

That side-by-side photo really shows the difference in grip width. I may have to buy another CS9 so I can take a photo like that! Those KSD grips look sharp.

Like an early blackened, cosmetically used but internally new including springs one?

I agree.

I have them on my CS45. Thank you TercGen. They are so much nicer than the thick and sticky Hogue grips that they came with. They were the wrong solution for a CCW.

Looking great Ed58, glad that you finally tried them out! Those gray grips are my preferred choice for the stainless CS9's, too bad S&W stopped producing the gray 3913 grips that I used to make them. When you can find them now, they are pretty expensive!

Congrats on your new CS9 as well 4T5GUY, and thank you for the comparison picture. Glad that particular CS9 stayed in the family here!

Were it not for TercGens EXCELLENT grips, I would have sold my CS45.

And I'm pretty sure I would have sold the CS9's too. And just stuck with the 3913s.

I agree Ed58! These grips should have come on the CS9 from the factory. Would have made it much more popular, IMHO of course. Regards 18DAI

I agree with others that the TercGen grips make, in my case the CS9, a serious carry pistol. The factory rubber Hogues just make it a fat chunk in your hand.

I like show & tell...

.

Here's my TercGens made from curved 3906 grips along with KAHR metal base plates on the magazine, for a suave yet refined concealed carry look.

The TercGen grips came today. Easy to install, great fit. I added a Pachmyar Slip On Grip since those Delryns are so slippery.

Picture later on.

Thanks, TercGen!

Nice! Glad that they made it through the mail and onto your CS9 without issue Gary. While I traditionally have always added some strips of traction tape to my personal Delrin grips, lately I've been experimenting with sections of bike tubing and really like it.

No problems. Not even ones induced by me. I did put a drop of Lubriplate 105 assembly lube on the pin. It was a tight fit, but I can see that a loose fit would be asking for trouble.

I like the finger groove on the Pachmyars, which is why I use them over bike tubing or other flat designs.

Somewhere around here I have a Pachmyar sleeve with finger grooves, came on a used gun years ago when I didn't even consider using sleeves. I'll have to find it and give it a shot.

Last Winter I got tired of the traction tape on my grips eating holes in the inside of my jackets and just picked up a bike tube at Target for $6. I've made a few 'Schwinn' grip sleeves from it and still have tons of tubing left, so price-wise it's pretty hard to beat.

The picture, as promised.

I used the same Pachmyar Slip On Grip as I did on the Pre rail 3913TSW. The grip is actually designed for smaller frame, like .380 pistols. It's a tight fit, but because of the short grip length on both pistols, it works better than the 9mm version.

Here is a picture showing the difference in the thickness of the rubber grips compared with the Delrin grips.

Here is my CS45 with TercGen grip, cut up and fitted Hogue slip on grip with palm swells and RedCardinal mag basepad (CS45 Finger rest rounded off).

45 carry perfection, for me. Thanks TercGen! And RedCardinal! Regards 18DAI

I thought I posted this, but either didn't or put it somewhere else.

Anyway, I carried my CS9 with TergGen grips for the first time today. I generally pocket carry the CS9.

With the TergGen grips, Pachmyar slip on grip sleeve, and the single side safety it's a slim package in a front pocket. There is a noticeable difference between the Hogues and the TergGens.

The gun slips in and out of the DeSantis holster much more easily, although I'm not exactly sure why. It also feels more comfortable in my pocket when I sit down.

I'm very happy with the result.

Default CS9 holster

Speaking of holsters, I got a Bianchi Model 100 Professional Inside Waistband Holster (size 10A) for my CS9.

Works pretty good.

I use that one, too. I cut another slot for the clip--
the original just felt a smidge top-heavy, like the
pistol wanted to tip out of the holster, from time
to time. The second slot lowers holster about
1/4" and feels solid, to me.
