Pictures of your favorute S&W Semi Auto
There are now scant few Smith & Wesson semi-automatic handguns to see at stores (MY LGS has had the same 2 Model 59's (one Nickel for $1.5K), Two Model 41s and a Model 32 for months) , gun shows or for even sale (outside GB, et al) online. Kindly show off any or all of your S&W semi automatics that you would like to with any stories that you have. I tried to collect S&W Police Trade Ins, but from this forum and other collectors learned of desirable models (CS, CS45, S22, 3913) that you do not often see as police trade ins. Once the police trade in rule slipped, my accumulation accelerated. It took me forever to figure out that the scratched but perfectly functional Atlanta police 5903 had a spring job and will only fire heavy loads. The 4506 is a Fresno Sheriff trade in that I still prefer over any 1911. The 40 TSW is, of course, a CHP trade in that looked like it had never left the box, and the only trade in that came with a box. I really like shooting the Models 915 and 5906. The Model 59 was priced low at a gun show alone on a table of Colts, and since I had plenty of 59XX magazines, I had an excuse to buy it. That is the original M&P9, that I bought in lieu of a SW99 way back when. All have been good guns. What do you have for Show and Tell?

Not my best (but damn near!) and not my favorite (but damn near!) and it might be the rarest that I own.
I chose this one because I had a picture handy and it is photogenic.

I mistakenly first posted a pic of All my S&W 45’s. I deleted my response cause the original question was the one favorite even though they’re all my favs.
My most favorite has to be my 845. Hands down. It is the ultimate.
I’m sure others are going to post 2nd, 3rd and all that they have as favorites. I am going to join in too just a bit.
My second favorite S&W pistol is my, (well ok my wife’s,) Loveless 41 Field Gun. I got it for $814.00 and I’ll leave it at that. I still have it but I was close to trading it for a fellow members 952-2. Straight across. My wife said no way she loved the Loveless and it was perfect for her. That 952 was bought by another “member” here for $12,775.00.

Favorite is a 6906 I've carried every day since 1994. Only other one is a 5906 that somehow, while purchased in the same shipment as the 6906, remains unfired to this day. Joe

My absolute favorite. Still. Out of any handgun I have ever owned. My old off duty, plainclothes 4513TSW.
Early version with 6 round mag. Blessedly rail free. Decock only with Novak night sights. I stil carry it frequently. Regards 18DAI

The one I carry most of the time, so by default it's my favorite. Pre rail 3913TSW. The slip on grip in the picture has been replaced by one that fits better.

My favorite pistols are always TDA and the ones with decockers lead that list and the S&W 3rd Gens lead that short list. I have carried the 6906 below, the CS-45, and the CS-9. None of them are being carried presently but that's fixing to change after I get some range time in with them again.
CS-45, my first S&W pistol, purchased directly from S&W to replace a Model 19 that I blew up - scored 248 out of 250 on a Texas CHL test with it - only beat it a few years later with a Model 10 but that's a whole long story:
5903-SSV that I no longer own - it is going to be in the next S&W auction - NIB/unfired:
6906 - reimport - given to me in return for a favor:
CS-9 - because when I made the mental switch to 9mm I had to have one - and they're hard to find!
5906 - police trade in - price was right and I didn't have one.
That's my meager collection of 3rd Gens.

I've got a LOT of favorites, but here are three that come to mind.
The 645 - power and reliability abound.
The 52-2. Accuracy plus.
The 3913NL. Concealable and reliable for self defense.
These are a few of my favorite things -
John

I like all of the 3rd Generation pistols that I have. But I seem to shoot best with the 5946.
This is a "New Old Stock " pistol. I have a 5906 NOS as well, but DAO one just suits me better.

My favorite S&W Automatic is my M&P380 Shield EZ.
[IMG] [/IMG]
[IMG] [/IMG]
[IMG] [/IMG]
This particular gun shipped from the factory on September 19, 2018 and was purchased new on October 13, 2018. It sat in its box for over two years, and over that time; a significant amount of complaints have been noted on this forum regarding feeding malfunctions, most of them pointing to an inability to properly feed the last round from the magazine.
With the above complaints in mind, I finally took the 380 EZ out and fired it for the first time about two months ago. On that first trip, I fired magazine after magazine through the gun with perfect functioning and excellent accuracy. I didn't keep an exact round count, but I'm sure I loaded each of the two magazines that shipped with the gun at least ten times each. Again, there were no failures to feed, extract, eject.
I have since acquired a third magazine, and it has exhibited the same perfect function as the original two magazines.
I have now let several men, women, and children shoot this gun, and even when being fired by ten year old boys and girls, the gun has maintained its record of perfect function. It's worth noting that every one of the individuals I've let shoot this gun now want one just like it! Total rounds fired to date, well exceed 500.
So what about the complaints regarding this gun? I have no doubt that there have been problems and maybe I just lucked out getting such an excellent performing example. I'm actually curious enough about it that I'm planning to purchase another one as soon as I can find one, just to see if I get similar results.

Of all that I own, this one is my favorite: It is a 4506 lower mated to a 4516 upper. Essentially it is a home-brewed 4596.
One day I will actually get a "real" 4596, but if I had a choice my Grail Gun would be a 945.

I guess that makes it my favorite.
In any case, I like it. Very reliable shooter.

For most of my adult life I have gone under the principle that “S&W builds revolvers and Colt builds automatics.” I got interested in S&W auto pistols when I inherited a 39-2 and a 52-2. I wanted to conserve them as they came to me, so I began a project I dubbed my “Franken-Smith” based on a Model 639. Here it is, in process... eventually I hope one of the slides will sport a set of Millett adjustable sights I’ve acquired and that the other will get a reflex-type red dot sight.
What I especially like about the S&W 9mms is the ability to mix and match parts to get the configuration you want... something not easily done with their revolvers.

While I've always preferred Smith's round guns I have had a number of the semis starting in 1978 with a 59. Of all that I owned the one I never should have sold was the nib 4567 I bought in '92. It was big and heavy but it was incredibly accurate.
I don't have a photo of it but I do have another used one I bought a few years ago but it didn't "speak" to me the way the other did even though it feed everything I put in it and was accurate too. The only da/sa auto I wish I still had.

This was a fantastic snag you got, and it makes me curious what you paid. The box shown in the picture is almost certainly not the original box and doesn't have a proper end label, but I have been mistaken before so please correct me if I am wrong.
I wonder if you might find it interesting that the fixed sight version of the 3906 came in at least two different forms. The one you have is an early one, an upgrade 2nd Gen slide.
You can tell that it is upgraded because it has a pressed-in barrel bushing that isn't removable and the front sight is in a dovetail.
At the same time, you can also tell that it isn't the newer 3rd Gen slide on there, and this is because the lettering and stamping style is different on a 3rd Gen slide, you don't have the "four lines" typical of the older S&W guns and of course, you would also have the upgraded Novak rear fixed sight if it were the later build. The 3rd Gen slides also have a different bead blast finish than the upgraded 2nd Gen slides.
We aren't really talking "better or worse" but more like interesting S&W variations and curiosities -- the kind of things that make collecting them and discussing them interesting.
Either way, this is a great and very scarce pistol.

I recently bought a 9mm Shield. It fits my hand like a glove. I can say nothing bad about it. (except perhaps for the little yellow thingie you have to push out of the way to field strip it. ) :-)

My absolute favorite is a 1006 that I don't have a good current pic of right now, still with BMCM for some extra work at the moment. However, my next two favorites have to be my 5906TSW and my 4566TSW.
5906TSW was a police trade in but I don't know from where, was very beat up when I got it and has some nagging reliability issues, but fits my hand better than any other double-stack 9mm pistol I have and places shots ridiculously easily.
And my 4566TSW is a Fresno Sheriff's Office trade-in with the milled integral rail. Really well balanced and almost as easy to place shots with as the 5906, with no reliability complaints so far.

Don't have many Smith semi-autos, but this 645 has to be my favorite. It was my first duty gun after I completed OJT out of the police academy in 1987.

If we are talking Favorite to shoot, that is easy . . . It is my 845
However, my favorite overall is a much harder choice, however I would pick my 3566 Limited with the two top ends

My favorite, my 4516-1 with 745 grips and SA trigger.
Inspiration came from my 845. And I am sorry to tell that the 845 is my least favorite the four S&W guns I own.
I have shot it very much due to the range being closed but sometimes you are friends with a gun in a few shots and sometimes it just takes longer.

I hear ya on the 645. My second favorite after my 1006.
Just something Old School about it, even though it was considered 'New School'-ish in 1987.
