4506 Price Help
Fella has a 4506 he wants to sell me but hasn't figured out a price. Referred to the big auction site but prices there are a bit hard to track with some asking $1200 and others a bunch less. Even the prices on the "completed" sales are in a pretty wide range.
Wondering what folks here feel is a fair price for 4506 no dash, one mag, original box no papers. He hasn't sent pics yet, so let's assume decent shape (but not NIB).
After reading recent post "4506-1 Approves" I moved this up on my "wants" list.
thanks.

In the current market, I'd offer $600 as a starting point and go from there.

I sold a great condition, two mag, no dash about 8 months ago @ $650.
Local sale so no shipping involved.

In my area, $600-$800 in good to excellent condition. I pay attention to these because every time a nice one crosses my path I have to spend a few minutes talking myself out of buying it. I have a couple already, but it is one of my favorite 3rd gen Smiths.
IMO more than that is just paying the Covid Panic tax that so many are paying these days.

Prices have got out of hand. I paid $500 for a good shooter with one mag only a few years back. I guess that it is all about how bad that you want it.

In normal times, $500-$600. These days, anywhere from $600 to $800.

Three years ago, I paid $500 for a no-dash 4506 and five magazines. A few months later I paid $400 for a 4566, both from shops not private sales, but this isn't three years ago.

Yes they are certainly great guns.
I love mine and would pick up another one if I could find a clean one at a good price. I always like having a second copy of guns that I really like.
As some have posted they have been available for decent prices until recently. Glocks and other polymer lightweight pistols being all the rage. But they are steadily going up in price. There are only so many clean ones out there.
If I wanted one and saw one out there at a price that I could live with. I would probably jump on it. You do not know when you will see another one and what they will want for it.

I'd like to see them in the $12-1,400 range myself.
