Two hunks of Stainless here. I bought the 4506 a couple of months ago. Great pistol, but what I really wanted was a 4596. If you can find one it will cost you an arm and a leg. As luck would have it, I found a nice 4516 complete slide. For $100 I thought, why not. I bought it, took it home and it went right onto the 4506 slide. 500 rounds later and I have had NO mishaps at all. Accuracy also seems unaffected. I'm a happy guy with my po-mans 4596....
But I'm still on the look out for a 4596

3rdgenfan,
So what is my 4596 worth? I don't really want to sell, as it belonged to a good friend who passed away. I was with him at a gun show when he found it. I'm curious what she might be worth today.

I see them go for $700+ on gunbroker. Really nice gun and I may take the plunge eventually.
The only thing stopping me right now is the fact that I have $500 in my 4506 AND the complete 4516 slide. When combined it is the same gun as the 4596.

I recently bought a 4506, very similar to yours, strait grips and adjustable sights, but with the blue hammer and trigger. The pistol was in the original box and looked like it was never fired or cleaned. I replaced the recoil and magazine springs, gave it a good cleaning and lubrication. I am impressed by how well it has held up over the years, and how well it shot at the range. Good luck wiht yours.
