I actually don't see any problem with the use of the word in this context. Just means going from one tier of ownership up to the next, commonly used in troubleshooting.

Where exactly in "downtown Springfield" are you filing claim, Court Square, MGM Grand, or District Court? I hope you remember to bring pictures to court. Bein cute in court don't cut it. I'm personal friends with Katie. Next time I talk to her, I'll ask if she remembers this case. I'm sure I'll have to buy her more than one adult beverage to settle her nerves!

I have to say, if laser etched serial number can be easily sanded off, that makes it dang near impossible for anyone other than the manufacturer to be able to refinish the frame. Is this a common problem?

Please also ask her if she remembers me. She basically called me a liar and a thief and refused to replace the magazines for my Walther P22 pistols stating she did not believe I had three of that model. The mags were replaced under warranty with an improved design. I had to send Her Highness copies of the invoice from Vance’s in Ohio and my FFL I had them shipped to.

Folks Please Give me some time. .Days. I will make sure that I explain everything you need to know I will start from the beginning. I uploaded 3 pictures I don't see them. Let me see what I did wrong. I still try to figure out the basic functions of the forum. I am very, very interested in opinions, especially if you are an M41 owner you will understand my grief. I thank you all.

EDIT - 2/28/2021
Rather than following my instructions and contacting me, CharlyRomeo decided to go ahead and repost on his own. I merged his new thread into this one, so our members understand what occured.
You’ll find his account immediately after this reply.
As I suspected, CharlyRomeo caused this problem by stripping the finish and polishing the gun. In doing so, he obliterated the serial numbers and rendered the gun (frame) contraband. There’s no surprise why S&W refused his lifetime service claim.
Sincerely,
s&wchad

ORIGINAL POST
CharlyRomeo,
This has gone on far enough, with nothing but vague references. I locked this thread.
I see that you posted this about 7 years ago:

Are you talking about the same frame?
There was a period in the 1990's where S&W was experimenting with laser engraving. The markings were extremely shallow and the ATF soon ruled that they must be .003” deep. Here's an example of a revolver with light markings. When S&W did this, they marked the gun in multiple locations, because they could easily be obliterated with a Scotchbrite pad. This photo only shows about half of the serial numbers applied.
Have you been festering over this for 5 years because you stripped the finish, obliterated the serial numbers/manufacturer markings and S&W won't compensate you for it?
Contact me by PM and explain the issue in detail. If I'm satisfied that you have a justified claim, I'll reopen this thread. Be prepared to quickly post photos that substantiate your claims.

Smith and wesson 41LR and my five year strugle with SW trying to save her
There was no reason for the Laser-etched SN on my gun to become unreadable because of the total removal of the somewhat worn off blue from the frame by just using the Bridgewood Casey product and by spending 1/2 hr or so, polishing it to a mirror finish with Simichrome jewelry polishing cream and the proper procedure described in the book The S&W Revolver by Jerry Kuhnhausen to achieve a mirror finish.
I did that while watching TV one night laying on my recliner sofa.
I liked what I saw. I liked the look of the bare mild carbon steel look.
The next step would have been to preserve that look and metal from corrosion by using the Durakote satin clear. Awesome match to a blued barrel. She would. have been a beauty in my eyes., Ok So far?
That time, I thought it would be better to send it to Smith first for barrel fitting. Before the Durakote application.
You see folks at that time I received from GunPro a new Heavy barrel I purchased and I found out that needed fitting.
Suuure. No problem S&W customer service said I see sir you have sent it to us before for service 15 years to be exact because it shows on our system,
Soooo. I received a mail tag from S&W. I greased the frame put it in a zip log bag and along with the new Heavy barrel in a nice carton box with instructions and off to the post office that day
The calendar that day showed 20th 2016
Never in a million years, would have crossed in my mind that the serial number had become invisible Also never in a million years I would have transported it by mail across the state lines had I realized that fact during the blue removal and the Simichrome cream rubbing the week before Ok?
These photos were taken at the moment. I received that package back from SW. I cannot post more They are poor quality but better pictures will be taken soon enough
These are the remains of my dismantled M41 frame by SW
I had to plea with them to return it to me They acted as they did me a favor Yes Mr. K will try to do our best for the remains to be sent to you. LOOK HOW MY BABY ENDED UP AFTER 5 YEARS IN S&W CARE.
Coming up. The Quarantine, the suspicions,

You know what pal? You need to give it a rest.
You obliterated the serial number, that's why you didn't get the frame back.
Then you show us a couple of parts and want sympathy? Your one of those people who probably shouldn't even own a gun.
