Finally found a 915 for my 9mm carbine
I picked up a minty 915 with 2 15 round mags. Took it to the range today. It shoots a little left for me. Will be a companion gun for my Marlin Camp 9. They take the same magazines!

Nice, congrats.
The Camp 9 is a handy little carbine.
BTW MecGar 15 and 17rd mags are readily available. Those are the only aftermarket mags I would use or recommend.

Very nice. The POI to the left is easily dealt with by drifting the rear sight just a skosh to the right. The 915 was the member of the "Value Series" that most lived up to its name. It was sort of the "Model 28" of the semi auto pistols. Looks like you'll have fun as long as the 9mm ammo supply holds out!

915's use to be a lot more plentiful. I always kept one on hand and when a friend came around looking for a gun, I sold them mine and went looking for another.
At one time, there were several that had just came in from Israel. I got one that was pretty minty.

Can you take a loaded magazine, insert in a unloaded 915 with the safety on and pull the slide back and safely chamber a round? Using this method instead of leaving the safety off pulling the slide back chambering a round and using the decocker/safety to drop the hammer.

I used a 915 for a truck gun for a few years. Shot it a lot and never had any trouble with it. I paid less than $200.00. I sold it to a lady friend when I started S&W M&P's. I kind of wish I had kept it. I don't see a lot of them around anymore.

Yep, to get the most “Bang for the Buck” in a S&W double stack 9mm, you’d have to look long and hard to beat the 915. The 910 looks the same, but there are too many internal short cuts to make it fit the “Value Series” price point. Maybe the 915 should be called “Value Series Plus.” I only wish they had made a single stack version of it... the 908 has all the shortcomings of the 910.

I wish the danged things hadn't shot up in price the last few years. Haven't seen any at a gun show in years.
Some of the big auction site ones have replacement synthetic "tactical" stocks, not interested in that either.

I'll have to check now
I haven't looked lately but before the "pandemic pricing" so, about 1 year ago, they were selling for 500-1,000 bucks depending on condition. A rough used one would be $500. I got a real good one for $650 . $ 750 for one with a nicer stock or extra mags. LNIB would be 900-1,000
There were quite a few 9mm's for sale then. Never seen more than 1 or 2 in 45acp. I will have to check gunbroker now and see where they all went!

I would suggest you change the buffer out if you have not already. I have read that a bad buffer will cause a cracked stock on those. Midway has the Blackjack recoil buffer for less than $10.00.

Yes. I have 3 of those blackjack buffers in the basement. I plan on changing them every 5k rounds . My model 60 22lr had issues with the plastic buffer as well. A weak link in the otherwise fantastic marlin line. Love those old wood rifles!
