Default 439 in the House

Went by one of the local gun shops that I hadn’t visited in quite sometime, certainly before the China Virus hit...
As usual, my first stop was the used counter where a 439 was on display in all its glory! Priced out at $499 with two original magazines, but no box or papers. Upon a closer examination, it appeared pristine. With purchase document in hand, I picked the pistol up today. Out the door at $349 plus Chancellor Kuomo’s tax levy.
Roy says it left the factory in October’ 87, and a serial number check reveals that I’m the third owner, the first being a fellow retired SCPD officer I knew back in the day. Neat addition.

Very nice example. Previous owners must've not carried it much. I bought one a few years back but I think $450 was the price.

According to the SCSW 4th. Edition, yes. The 439 series was available with both the adjustable protected rear sight or a drift only adjustable rear sight.

Also, they were available with or without the ambidextrous safety and earlier production models came with a rounded trigger guard.

I have an early 2 tone with rounded guard, and protected adj sight, and the lanyard loop. And the flat right side on the safety/decocker is turning plum. Kinda cool.

Priced at $499 (which is a bargain for what I see in the pictures), but you got it for $349? Dang! I need you to come down here and help me with my negotiating skills.

I would pick up 2 at that price. Or just the one even at $499. Very nice.

OP, very nice 439! I have an earlier version with the rounded trigger guard. Just a quick word of advice, the 439s had been subject of a recall. I don't exactly remember which SN range was affected, but you may want to check with CS to see if your pistol was a part of the recall, and whether it has been upgraded!

How can you sleep at night. You should go back and lay at least another $100 on the shop. Just kidding wish I could run across a deal like that.
