I have a model 39-2 with serial number 8951.
It has no letters, just the numbers.
Can anyone advise the date of manufacture and value of this gun?

Welcome to the forum. Can you post pictures? 8951 should be a Model 39 (no dash) with a wide extractor. Perhaps someone has put a Model 39-2 slide on a Model 39 frame.
Hello Bob, and welcome to a new guy. Your mod-39 is a late four digit.
Should have the long, wide extractor on the slide and the long de-cocker.
I would say ship date as summer of 1959. What does the follower on the mag look like, flat or X shaped bent steel? Dont go away, come back and converse. We like mod-39s.
