Default Pre 39

Have a mod 39 with serial number 13xx. Think I read serial numbers 1001 to 2600 were pre 39? Has short safety and tang. So made in the 1954 or so period? Thanks for any info.

Mine is 1173 and shipped in September 1955, so it stands to reasons yours is somewhat later. Only a SWHF letter will give you all the details, and pre-39s are often guns where a letter makes sense, many of these early 9mms went to interesting customers/places.

I will relay the info I have on the 39s. Sn. 1001 shipped 11-15-54.
Sn. 2624 shipped 11-15-57. 2624 is the highest recorded Sn. in the pre 39 series. I have Sn.2325 shipped 3-58. So they were not shipped in numerical order. As stated your pre maybe an interesting gun. PM me your full Sn. to ascertain if it has been lettered. Did you get numbered box and correct booklet and flat follwer mags? best, Mike

Number is 1313. Do not have the box, and only 1 mag. Do not know if it is flat follower.
